Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal are one of many clubs who have been keeping tabs on Viktor Gyokeres.
The Swedish striker has started the new campaign in blistering form. The Sporting forward has already netted 8 times and provided 3 assists in just 6 appearances, across all competitions.
Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Gyokeres before, and will be well aware of his qualities.
However, despite Eddie Nketiah leaving the Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta ultimately decided not to invest in a new striker in the recent summer transfer window.
On top of that, Arsenal aren’t planning to sign a striker in the upcoming January transfer window, either.
However, the latest news concerning Gyokeres could see the Gunners change their stance.

Viktor Gyokeres regrets missing out on Arsenal move
According to Football Transfers, Gyokeres is “disappointed” that he was unable to secure a move away from Sporting this summer, as Arsenal were amongst the clubs interested in securing his services.
The Portuguese outfit have now recognised the forward’s mood, and would be willing to let him leave for “substantially less” than his £85 million release clause.
Given this opportunity to sign Gyokeres for a discounted price, Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar may well feel that the chance is too good to miss.
Why Arsenal must move to sign Gyokeres
If Arsenal are handed the chance to prise Gyokeres away from Sporting for a cut price fee then they must act fast to get a deal done.
Arsenal have been warned that a lack of depth when it comes to attacking options will see them suffer in the Champions League this season. Gyokeres’ arrival midway through this season could make all the difference in the Gunners’ pursuit of major silverware.
Whilst Kai Havertz has shone up front under Arteta, there are concerns over Gabriel Jesus’ form and fitness, and Leandro Trossard is generally preferred in a wide role.
Were the German to be stricken by injury, the Gunners would struggle to effectively replace him on a longer-term basis, which underlines the need to bring in a player like Gyokeres.
