Victor Boniface, a forward for Bayer Leverkusen, is happy that he will be able to represent Nigeria at the next Africa Cup of Nations in January.
Victor Boniface has developed into one of the most significant players for Bayer Leverkusen, therefore the team first tried to prevent him from leaving in January.
They are now prepared to push hard from January 13 to February 11, 2023, without Boniface, to win the German Bundesliga title.
Not just him, though, will be absent for Leverkusen in January. The Bundesliga table-toppers won’t have Natan Tella, another recent Super Eagles invitationee, with them. The others are Odilon Kossounou (Ivory Coast), Edmond Tapsoba (Burkina Faso), and Amine Adli (Morocco).
After assisting Bayer Leverkusen in netting an equalizer during their 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund the previous weekend, Boniface expressed his excitement to DW about approaching his AFCON debut.
“Every Nigerian football player’s dream is to represent their nation and bring home a trophy,” he declared. Thus, we eagerly anticipate the upcoming AFCON.
Leverkusen’s offense is being led by Victor Boniface, who is helping Xabi Alonso lead the team to their first Bundesliga title in thirty years. Thus far this season, he has tallied eight goals and contributed five assists.
On December 14, the Super Eagles will submit their preliminary squad list to CAF, and he is anticipated to be on it. A week or so prior to the tournament in Ivory Coast starting, Boniface will also be included in the final squad list.
