Noel Gallagher, the former leader of Oasis, feels that Kai Havertz was not a player Arsenal should have bought this summer. The English musician, who is a devoted supporter of Manchester City, maintains that Declan Rice is all the Gunners need to bolster their roster.
Before the 2023–24 season, Havertz was acquired by the north London team for £65 million from Chelsea. Despite a slow start to the season at the Emirates, the German forward has not impressed.
In his twelve Premier League games for Arsenal this season, he has only scored once. In the UEFA Champions League, he has not yet recorded a point.Rice, on the other hand, came from West Ham United and has since excelled and won the respect of the supporters. This summer, the England international came at a club-record £105 million cost to the Gunners. With 12 league starts, he has put up some outstanding displays in the middle of the park, tallying two goals and one assist.Gallagher told talkSPORT that the Gunners made mistakes in their summer transfer business.
The international break is now causing the Premier League to be suspended. On November 25, Arsenal will play their first game back at the Gtech Community Stadium against Brentford.
Noel Gallagher comments on the scenario involving the goalkeeper for Arsenal: “He shouldn’t have done that.”
This season, there has been some competition for Arsenal’s starting position in goal. Wearing the No. 1 jersey for the team, Aaron Ramsdale was a key member of Arteta’s squad last year.
The England international participated in every minute of his team’s Premier League campaign, competing head-to-head with Manchester City. But since David Raya arrived this summer, he has only made four league appearances this season. The Spanish goalkeeper, who cost the Gunners £30 million to acquire from Brentford, has made eight appearances in the top division in England. Gallagher has blasted the manager’s choice, even as Arteta attempts to keep up some competition for the goalie position.
He also made mention of Ramsdale’s father, who earlier this week spoke to the public about his son’s challenging circumstances, saying
For the north London team this season, Ramsdale has kept two clean sheets in seven games across all competitions, while Raya has kept six in twelve.
