The Germany international joined the Gunners from Chelsea in the summer of 2023, and there were a lot of question marks about him early on.
However, Havertz got better and better as the season went on, and he is now a bit of a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium.
Now, Havertz has delivered his verdict on one of Arsenal’s most important players, Martin Odegaard.
Kai Havertz shares what surprised him about Martin Odegaard at Arsenal
Odegaard is integral to Arsenal – both on and off the pitch.
The Norwegian joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in January 2022, initially on a loan deal but that was made permanent the following summer.
Odegaard was made the Arsenal captain just a year later, and he has been unbelievable since. He has led his side to challenge for the Premier League title in each of the last two seasons, and he’s set to do it again this term.
The attacking midfielder is currently injured, but Havertz has revealed that Odegaard is still around his teammates every single day to speak to them.
Havertz also revealed that he was really surprised to see that Odegaard is very vocal in the dressing room – he did not expect that before he joined Arsenal.
He told Sky Sports: “I don’t know how long he is injured now, maybe two weeks, but every day he’s here, every day he’s in the meetings and speaks to us.
“I think he’s the perfect captain for a team like us where we have so many young players and players who can progress. He’s there for everyone, not only off the pitch.
“To be honest, before I came to Arsenal, I didn’t think he would speak so much in the dressing room and stuff like that, but he speaks a lot and in the dressing room before the game, stuff like that.
“He is also there on the pitch when things are not going your way. You need someone to step up.”

When Odegaard is expected to return from his injury
Odegaard suffered a nasty ankle injury while away on international duty with Norway.
The former Real Madrid man was in a lot of pain then, and Gooners instantly feared the worst. Scans revealed that Odegaard had damaged his ligaments, and he has been out of action since.
That suggests that Odegaard is expected to be back when Arsenal take on Bournemouth in the Premier League on October 19th.
His return would be a huge boost for the Gunners.
