Georgia reportedly reaches out to former Texas WR, 5-star recruit

Johntay Cook, a former wide receiver for the Texas Longhorns, has been contacted by the Georgia Bulldogs. On November 7, Cook, a former five-star recruit, left Texas’ program. Cook caught eight passes for 137 yards and two scores in 2024. The 2024 season saw six appearances from the gifted sophomore. Of all the players on Texas, Cook has the fifth-most receiving yards. The former top recruit is allegedly also being pursued by Ole Miss and Oregon.

We hold him and his family in the highest regard. Steve Sarkisan, the head coach of Texas, wished him success in his future pursuits. When asked who made the decision that Cook should move on, Sarkisan added, “It was mutual between the two of us.” When the NCAA transfer portal opens on December 9, Cook is probably going to be among the best wide outs available. Due to the possibility of senior Arian Smith, senior Dominic Lovett, and junior Dillon Bell joining the NFL, Georgia is anticipated to be on the market for an experienced transfer receiver.
