Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal is not included in Brazil’s roster for their World Cup qualifying match against Colombia on Thursday.
Jesus hurt his hamstring during Arsenal’s 2-1 Champions League victory against Sevilla on October 24, and he hasn’t featured for the team since.
Despite this, Brazil called up the striker last week in preparation for their most recent World Cup qualifying match against Argentina and Colombia.
Jesus has been exercising this week, although not always with the main group. As a result, he has been left off the roster for the game against Colombia on Thursday.
The 26-year-old has remained at Brazil’s camp in Teresopolis, where he will continue his recuperation under the guidance of trainer Marquinhos, doctor Felipe Kalil, and physiotherapist Charles Costa.
Following their match against Colombia, Brazil will play their fiercest rivals, Argentina, at home on Tuesday. Jesus is still expected to play.
Arsenal is communicating with Brazil on a regular basis to make sure the striker is not hurried back. Jesus has only started four Premier League games this season due to a knee injury that necessitated surgery in the summer.
Fernando Diniz, the head coach of Brazil, has stated that they are handling Jesus “carefully,” and this week’s visit involved a hamstring scan.
For these two games, Diniz selected 24 players, believing that Jesus would not be short on numbers if he was unable to play.
The remaining 23 players from Brazil’s squad, including Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes, who both play for Arsenal like Jesus, flew to Colombia on Wednesday for the match.
