Dominik Badinka, a 2024 second-round pick, has agreed to a three-year entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. Over the course of the three seasons, Badinka, 18, will earn $775,000 in the NHL and $85,000 in the AHL. In addition, he will receive $282,150 in signing incentives. Assistant general manager of the Hurricanes Darren Yorke described Dominick as a puck-moving defenceman with good length and movement. “We are eager for him to advance to the next level of his growth after seeing how well he performed as an 18-year-old in Sweden last season against very stiff opposition.
The Czech blueliner spent the previous season in the SHL, where he was a regular player for the Malmo Redhawks, recording 33 games with a goal and four points. The 6-foot-3 defender is a superb skater with good defensive ability and has serious offensive possibilities.
