With some very high contract demands on the table, Kylian Mbappe is expected to become available for a free move in the summer.
According to a recent rumor, PSG star Kylian Mbappe has detailed the contract he would like to sign if he were to join a team this summer on a free transfer. It happens while the forward’s contract is about to expire and he is still being linked to moves to Real Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
Long-running rumors about the forward leaving Les Parisiens were squashed when he inked a new contract with the team in the summer of 2022. Although it was initially stated to be until 2025, it was eventually discovered to be a two-year agreement with a one-year option to extend.
However, Mbappe chose not to activate the extension after receiving that option, therefore his contract will expire the following summer. PSG acted swiftly to try to sign a new deal or make a sale in order to prevent him from leaving on a free agent’s salary, fearing that scenario.
Despite the club agreeing to a world-record sum with Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal, no deal was signed and no other transfer was obtained within that timeframe. After that, Mbappe was barred from both the first-team squad’s preseason tour of Japan and the season’s first match.
He was brought back into the team and has played ever since, but his contract is about to expire. This is because a transfer is not in the works. One of the favored choices for the forward has been identified as Arsenal, although Chelsea is still being connected despite having already spent £1 billion.
Mbappe’s summer contract demands have been clearly outlined for Real Madrid and Liverpool, who are also in the running. Mbappe is reportedly demanding a signing bonus of almost €100 million (£87 million) in addition to an annual salary of €35 million (£30.5 million) after taxes, according to an AS report via SportWitness.
Although it’s a lot to ask of a player, any team that is interested may find that his skill level and availability on a free transfer make him a wise investment. Though it’s unclear if Chelsea or Arsenal will move further, they can begin pre-contract negotiations in January.
