Mikel Arteta took responsibility for Arsenal’s 3-1 loss to West Ham in the Carabao Cup.
Arteta made six changes to his line-up for the fourth round fixture, leaving Declan Rice on the bench for the home game against the Hammers.
The midfielder, who captained West Ham to the Europa Conference League Cup last season, has returned to his old club for the first time since joining the Gunners for £105m.
However, an early own goal from Ben White followed by goals from Mohamed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen saw Arsenal eliminated, meaning they will not be able to take part in the Carabao Cup this season.
