Arsenal have been linked with a move for Ivan Toney in the January transfer window, but a deal may have to be sold to secure the deal.
Ivan Toney
Arsenal have been told how Ivan Toney can help them win the Premier League
Arsenal need to make a “big sale” and according to recent reports they are ready to move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the January transfer window. It comes as the Gunners continue to be linked with a move for the goalscorer to help push their title bid over the line.
Mikel Arteta’s side have often been criticized for lacking a clinical striker, much like Manchester City under Erling Haaland. The north London side often start with Gabriel Jesus, a player who has a lot of quality and can often move around the creations, but has only scored one Premier League goal this season.
Eddie Nketiah is at the other end of the scale when it comes to penalties, with five goals in the league so far, although most of those have come in one game. Toney’s links seem to be about scoring goals as well as striker profiles.
Not only did the England international show his ability to score goals for a team with far less possession, but his containment and pressing were often key. That could be another string to Arteta’s bow, allowing him to be a different type of player to help find solutions against other teams.

However, the deal could be expensive, especially for a player who has been out of action for some time after serving an eight-month ban for breaching the FA’s playing rules. He’ll be back in time for January, but with clubs circling, they won’t have much time to decide if it’s the right move.
The price tag should also be considered here, as the bees prepare to inquire about several different product lines in the coming weeks. The highest bid was £100m, which would be a huge price for the 27-year-old, prompting money to be raised elsewhere.
This is certainly the case for Arsenal if they look to sign Toney, with a report from The Athletic claiming that the Gunners cannot afford the striker at the moment. This means they have to make a “big sale” so that they have the possible funds if they want a deal.
It remains to be seen if that is possible, and if so, who the player or players who could be moved for a potential new deal remains to be seen.
