Bukayo Saka has received plaudits from Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard.
Saka has assumed leadership in Odegaard’s absence due to injuries.
“Bukayo took the armband for that game – the first time he’s been Arsenal captain, I think – and we can all see that he is adding leadership to his long list of qualities,” Odegaard wrote in the match program notes on Saturday.
“To be honest, I’ve noticed this for a while, so I’m not shocked that he’s growing in this way. It makes me very glad for him, since he truly deserves it.
In my opinion, he and I are similar in that he isn’t the loudest or person in the dressing room when it comes to shouting. However, he is incredibly intelligent, readily available, gives his all for the team, and he is assuming an increasing amount of responsibility both on and off the field. Being a fantastic player and a wonderful person, he truly deserves to be one of the captains. I’m proud of him and glad to have him as a teammate.
