Mikel Arteta, Arsenal, Brexit © ProShots Arsenal have re-signed Valencia starlet Yarek Gasiorowski after Brexit made the previous deal impossible, according to Spanish media. The youngster made his long-awaited senior debut in Valencia at the start of the season against RCD Mallorca. Although it only lasted a minute – as was his next match against Granada – it was already clear that this was only the beginning of his gradual introduction to first-team football. The article continues below the video A baptism of fire indeed awaited the youngster as he finally got his first meaningful minutes against none other than Real Madrid, playing 35 minutes at the Santiago Bernabeu as Valencia were put to the sword 5-1. The result did little damage to the defender’s image and he recovered in style to score a hat-trick at centre-back against Moldova in Spain and the U19s on Wednesday. The introduction of the Spaniard to the senior ranks of Valencia fueled the huge interest that had been in him since his youth in the club and youth team. In fact, Arsenal had previously tried to sign him, but Brexit ultimately prevented them from signing him as he was still minor at the time. Arsenal back According to AS, the 18-year-old is now an adult. Whether they move again remains to be seen, but time may be of the essence. The Spanish newspaper reports that Gasiorowski’s current release clause is just under €20 million, but interestingly it is claimed that this release clause will increase dramatically once the youngster is officially registered as a first-team player. That has yet to happen and is said to be unlikely as Valencia look to fill their slots with January signings. Also, since he is only 18, Valencia want to keep him a chance to break into the reserve team, where he will surely get more minutes more often than in LaLiga. For example, RB Salzburg, who made an offer of 5 million euros before he even made his reserve debut, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus also showed interest in the youngster at different times.
