Paris Saint-Germain are in London to take on Arsenal in the Champions League.
The Gunners were held to a 0-0 draw against Atalanta in their opening fixture of the competition this season. It was a fairly uneventful game in Bergamo, but the clash at the Emirates is expected to be much better.
The Londoners are unbeaten against the Parisiens in Europe over the years, winning one Cup Winners’ Cup clash and drawing three other games. Mikel Arteta could become the first Arsenal manager to beat PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Gunners boss could also help Ethan Nwaneri enter his name into Arsenal’s history books.
Ethan Nwaneri could break 20-year Arsenal record in the Champions League vs PSG
Nwaneri is arguably the most talented teenager at Arsenal right now.
The 17-year-old was given regular opportunities in pre-season and he impressed. He has played three times since the start of this campaign and has scored two goals.
Nwaneri is a star in the making, and Arsenal fans have all been urging Arteta to hand him a start against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
A 17-year-old getting the nod from the start in Europe’s most prestigious club competition is very rare, but it has happened before at Arsenal – 20 years ago.
Back in October 2004, Cesc Fabregas became Arsenal’s youngest-ever player to start a game in the Champions League at 17 years, five months and 16 days.
The likes of Jack Wilshere, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Serge Gnabry made appearances in the competition at a younger age, but they were all off the bench.
If Nwaneri does start against PSG, he will become the youngest Arsenal player to do so since Fabregas a little over 20 years ago.
That would be an extraordinary achievement.
