The outcome of a 100-meter race between Olympic champion Noah Lyles and sprint legend Usain Bolt is depicted in a 3D simulation. Lyles won gold in the men’s 100-meter final of this summer’s Olympics by the narrowest of margins over Kishane Thompson of Jamaica. At the Paris Games, he set a spectacular time of 9.79 seconds in the picture finish.
His remarkable sprinting feats have drawn comparisons to Bolt, the Olympic gold medallist in the 100-meter race from Beijing, London, and Rio de Janeiro.
But he recorded his best 100m time at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, which remains a world record. He captured gold with a stunning time of 9.58 seconds. But how would he fare against his American counterpart?
Well, a 3D simulation shows Bolt beating Lyles not once but THREE times.
Bolt wins the opening 100-meter race in the simulation. Lyles has an advantage going into the second simulated race. Bolt prevailed in the race despite having the advantage. In the ultimate simulated race, spanning 200 meters, Bolt triumphs over Lyles at the finish line. On three occasions at the Olympics, the Jamaican also took home the gold in the 200-meter event.
However, Lyles was unable to secure a gold medal in Paris as he contracted COVID-19, settling for a bronze.
Noah Lyles, who won gold in Paris, cries on the podium. Image: Getty Lewis is a lot like Bolt, but he still has a ways to go before he can match the sprint legend’s Olympic accomplishments. Regarding his method, he remarked, “I try to be a showman; some people love it, some people criticize it. “They’re observing in order to determine who will move the fastest. And I want to bring that with me. It’s something I want to make entertaining. I am aware that winning does not guarantee that I will win over more admirers. I have to keep going. I want track and field to be recognized for more than just being a quick sport. I want you to take in the entire show of
it, the entertainment part of it.”
