When did Alabama football notice near-empty Tiger Stadium in dominant LSU road win?

Jam Miller knew the conversation surrounding Alabama football heading into Saturday’s prime-time meeting with LSU.

The Crimson Tide’s back is against the wall, he said. “Alabama’s not how it’s been,” he said. So Miller and the rest of Alabama wanted to prove a point. And the junior running back was looking for one specific indicator of that point being made.

“Our main goal is always clearing out the stadium,” Miller said. “And as you could see today, you basically clear out the stadium and all that you can see is crimson.”

When did Miller realize Tiger Stadium was nearly empty before Alabama secured its 42-13 road win against LSU? Not until the last few minutes, he said. He was too tuned in until late in the fourth quarter when he looked up and saw that many fans had already headed for the exits.

“It’s a great feeling,” Miller said. “It’s something that I will remember forever.”

Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell wasn’t sure which touchdown it was, whether it was Milroe’s 19-yard third-quarter touchdown run or the Crimson Tide quarterback’s 72-yard scamper at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

But it’s exactly what Campbell wanted to see.

“That’s our goal,” Campbell said. “At the end of the day, as we make that our goal, we keep advancing to that next week and the next week after that.”

Milroe admitted Alabama players are taught not to look around at the stadium, not to look at the scoreboard. But as the fourth quarter continues, he saw an approach from the Crimson Tide that forced LSU fans to flood to the exits.

“What we try to do is try to make the other team tap out,” Milroe said. “Just not worry about external factors – who is in the stadium, what’s around us. It’s more like how can we just continue to go ont he path of going 1-0, attacking the opponent and just making them surrender at the end of the day.”

Alabama returns home to face Mercer at 1 p.m. Nov. 16 before finishing the regular season against Oklahoma and Auburn.
