Despite rumors, Leeds United is not considering a summer transfer for Rasmus Hojlund of Manchester United, although Daniel Farke is eager to bolster the team in this area.
The Whites intend to add a striker in the summer, and TEAMtalk is aware that their target list will inevitably change depending on the division they are in.With two goals from Patrick Struijk in a thrilling late victory over Sunderland on Monday, Leeds is the clear favorite to win the Championship and earn automatic promotion to the Premier League.
If Farke’s team makes a comeback to the top flight, they will have more money and more goals. It’s also possible that Patrick Bamford will depart, freeing up a Premier League salary and creating space for a new number nine.
However, Leeds is still unwilling to pay Hojlund’s £85,000 weekly salary, and his transfer fee would be excessive given that Manchester United would never consider a sell this early in Hojlund’s employment that would result in a loss.
More significantly, there is no indication that Manchester United is open to a sale at this time, and Hojlund remains dedicated to the team and starting games.
Hojlund won’t be permitted to go even if Manchester United signs a new striker this summer, which is quite possible.
To date, neither Leeds nor any other club have made an approach for Hojlund.
But as previously stated, Leeds will try to sign a new striker this summer.
Cameron Archer of Southampton was reportedly the Whites’ main target in January—the only real target they had, in fact—and they may rekindle their interest this summer.
Although Southampton was hesitant to move Archer at the time, a deal might be possible this summer if Leeds get promoted and Southampton is relegated.
Archer’s versatility as a left-winger or striker appeals to the Whites.

Things are finally starting to look up for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham on the injury front. Seeing Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison return to the starting XI on Sunday against Manchester United and play a key role in the 1-0 victory, the Spurs boss also had Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert to call upon from his bench.

Not only an opportunity for players such as Vicario, Udogie, Maddison, Johnson and Odobert to increase their fitness levels further, Postecoglou will also have the chance to give those who have played regularly in this demanding period a breather.Ange Postecoglou bites back at Eric Dier question | ‘Don’t question my intergrity’
It will just be the two successive free midweek slots for Tottenham as they face Manchester City in N17 on Wednesday, February 26. Their schedule will only start to ramp up again from there as the Europa League returns at the start of March.
“Madders is a possibility. Destiny, with the guys who have missed a little bit more, Madders has been a shorter term one, we will see,” said the Australian when asked if Maddison and Udogie could start against Manchester United.
“They may be on the bench and we look at our schedule when next week we have no game and can train and then the following week we have got a midweeker so what I really want is when we get to that midweeker that Destiny, Brennan, Wilson and Timo, at a stretch, can get some gametime so when we need to rotate from Ipswich into City that these guys have played significant minutes.”
The term “significant minutes” does seem to indicate that players such as Udogie, Johnson and Odobert, and possibly even Timo Werner if fit, will be given a decent portion of pitch time at Ipswich this weekend, thus meaning they are at a good level with their fitness by the time the Manchester City match comes around. Tottenham have already claimed three points off Pep Guardiola’s side this campaign after an emphatic 4-0 win back in November and the hope will be that they can make it a league double.

Kalvin Phillips was one of several former Leeds United teammates to congratulate Adam Forshaw following his first goal in almost nine years on Saturday.
Forshaw opened the scoring as Blackburn Rovers beat Plymouth Argyle 2-0, producing a brilliant finish over goalkeeper Conor Hazard to put his side one up on 55 minutes. The 33-year-old was a Pilgrims player as early as last month before his contract was terminated, a decision which added extra spice on a personal level.

The midfielder’s last goal came for Middlesbrough in April 2016, with a five-year spell at Leeds failing to produce a single effort, while shorter spells at Norwich City and Plymouth saw the drought extend. It seemed as though that final goal might never come but Forshaw got his chance to celebrate on Saturday, with his family in the stands to enjoy the moment as well.
Phillips’ Forshaw message
In a post on Instagram after the game, Forshaw wrote: “Brilliant performance from all involved to finish the week. (bicep emoji) Great to have my kids there to celebrate the goal with (love heart).”
Forshaw has had his fair share of teammates over a long career and plenty were in the comments to congratulate the former Middlesbrough, Leeds and Norwich man – among them Phillips. The midfielder, who is now at Ipswich Town, wrote: “Love it Ads (heart eyes emoji and love heart)”.
Forshaw spent five years at Elland Road from 2018 to 2023 and while injury issues kept him sidelined for long periods, the midfielder was part of the 2020 Championship title-winning squad that went on to finish ninth in the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa. He was also an experienced head in the difficult campaigns that followed under Jesse Marsch, Javi Gracia and then Sam Allardyce.
And Phillips was not the only former Leeds player to congratulate Forshaw, with left-back Barry Douglas writing: “Bagsman (laughing emoji and love heart)”. A trio of fellow Merseysiders were also in the comments, with Joe Gelhardt, Sean McGurk and Max Dean spotted.
Celebration controversy
Forshaw garnered a lot of social media attention following his rare goal after appearing to taunt former club Plymouth with his celebration. The Blackburn man ran over towards opposition manager Miron Muslic before raising his arms up right in front of the Pilgrims boss.
But Forshaw quickly cleared up that his family – including young kids who have long been wondering if they’d ever see him score – were sitting above the Plymouth dugout, with the moment shared with them. And Muslic also revealed after full-time he had spoken with the former Leeds man.

“I have nothing but respect for Forshaw because he explained that behind us was his family, his sons,” Muslic told the Lancashire Telegraph. “I respect that and if I had scored that beautiful goal, I would go to my family celebrating. He is a top professional and there is nothing but respect. He told me this and for me, the story was done in a millisecond. We hugged each other and moved on.”
Speaking as the reigning constructors’ champions launched their 2025 challenger – the MCL39 at Silverstone on Thursday – Norris was asked by Sky Sports News whether he expected to see a revitalised version of Hamilton. On the first anniversary of the announcement, watch back how February 1 2024 unfolded around the stunning breaking news Lewis Hamilton would leave Mercedes at the end of 2024 to join FerrariHe said: “I would have thought so. I don’t know. Again, everyone’s different.
“I think it’s cool what he’s doing and what he’s done and going to Ferrari. I think it’s very special. I think Ferrari is incredible.
“I feel like he would struggle to find any reasons to not be motivated. You know, it’s an incredible opportunity for him. It’s a cool story.
Sky Sports’ Craig Slater heads to Maranello to capture the historic day that Tifosi welcomes Lewis Hamilton for his first test as a Ferrari driver“I’m sure there’s a lot of bonuses with a lot of things going over to Ferrari, so there’s a lot of reasons to be more motivated and be ready to go.
“It’s Lewis and I think anyone who doubts him is a bit silly.”
‘No overconfidence’ despite favourite tag
As for his status, Norris says he is embracing it but will also enter the season without “any overconfidence or too much arrogance”.
The 25-year-old Brit claimed the first four victories of his F1 career last season – including at the final round in Abu Dhabi – but ultimately finished 63 points behind Verstappen.Talking on the F1 Podcast, Nico Rosberg thinks Lando Norris is the favourite for the 2025 F1 Drivers’ Championship
He said: “It’s a nice thing, so I appreciate all those guys out there and girls who are out there betting on me, but I’m focused on this year.
“I felt good after last season. I felt like I wanted to continue after Abu Dhabi. I ended on the right note and I knew I needed to improve on some areas and some things.
“I felt like I proved to myself that I got what it takes. You know, something clicks and you just feel like, ‘OK, I feel like I can do it now’.
“I’m definitely not coming in with any overconfidence, you know, or too much or arrogance. My whole life I’ve been telling myself that I can’t and it’s nice that I tell myself for once that I can and that the opportunity is there. I know I’m just changing.
“I’m learning. I’m finding new ways to motivate myself and to make myself feel correct. That is one of those things coming in here going ‘I can do it this year’.
“It’s probably better telling myself that than ‘you’re not going to do it this year’. It’s easy things, but every person is different. You’ve got to find your own way.
“I’m coming in calm, I feel good and ready and I’m more prepared than ever, but I still know it’s going to be a very tough year.”
We are thrilled to provide a significant update on our young athletes’ chances to compete internationally.
A new U12 (ages 10–11) division has been announced by the Pan American Karate Federation (PKF).
It will be implemented at the 2025 Pan American Youth, Cadet, and U12 Championships in Asunción, Paraguay, from August 28–30. USA Karate consulted our Athletes Commission and Technical and Medical Committees in advance of this move.
We have given great thought to our decision to compete in this new category while putting our athletes’ long-term growth and well-being first.
Burnout and early specialization continue to be our top concerns; we want to see our athletes attain their maximum potential at the senior level by adhering to the USOPC’s high-performance models.
Furthermore, we shall keep encouraging safe and healthy competition behaviors and strongly discourage weight-cutting at this developmental stage. Beginning August 28, 2025, USA Karate will offer Pre-Team divisions for athletes aged 10 or 11 at Nationals, apart from the current advanced divisions, in accordance with our development philosophy.
The 2025 Junior PKF Championships in Asunción will be open to those who make it through this selection process. Additionally, all U12 athletes who compete in Asunción must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times to guarantee the safety of our youngest competitors.
Stoke City sporting director Jonathan Walters has revealed that the club were chasing Ipswich Town star Ali Al-Hamadi in the summer and insisted that the Potters need players like him
The Iraq international had spells with Wycombe Wanderers and AFC Wimbledon before he joined the Tractor Boys last year.
He played 14 times for the Tractor Boys last season, scoring four important goals when they secured automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Al-Hamadi mostly played as an off-the-bench substitute at Portman Road this season and Stoke loaned him in for the rest of the season in the winter window.
Walters revealed that they wanted to sign the striker in the summer and insisted his admiration towards Al-Hamadi for his in-game intelligence.
We were after Ali in the summer as well, alongside Tom [Cannon]”, Walters told the Potters’ media about the Tractor Boys loan star.
“He has a point to prove I think; he has gone there and been involved in their promotion season, last season.
And they all loved him, the staff, players, fans because of attitude, his game intelligence and his work-rate on the pitch.
“And he is the type of player we want at this club.”
He scored a goal on his Stoke City debut against Hull City earlier this month and he will be looking to have a telling impact against Swansea City on Saturday.

Crafters and artists called to help transform The Walk for spring market
Ipswich’s only independent news website
We publish the stories that matter and champion everything that’s good about our town – without the ads, popups or tracking13 February, 2025
Local creatives are being sought to contribute handmade bunting and stalls for The Walk’s upcoming spring market.
Why it matters: The market, scheduled for Sunday, 13 April, aims to build on December’s successful Christmas market, that saw thousands of shoppers visit the pretty thoroughfare, and continue revitalising one of Ipswich’s prettiest thoroughfares.
Organisers Threads for All are seeking makers, artists and crafts people to participate as stallholders.
Creatives are also being called upon to create bunting to make the area “fun and colourful”.
The event follows December’s Christmas market which brought together 20 local traders, offering craft beer, preserves, fashion, jewellery, arts and crafts.
Behind the initiative: The market is being organised by Will and Jenny, owners of Threads for All, who opened their independent fashion and homeware store in The Walk in late summer 2024.
What they’re saying: “We will try to make it bigger and better than the very successful Christmas one,” said Will Hamer, co-founder of Threads for All.
What’s next: Anyone interested in participating can contact Threads for All through their social media channels, website, or visit the shop directly.
The bottom line: Following the successful Christmas market that showcased The Walk’s potential, organisers are now calling on the local creative community to help deliver an even more ambitious spring event.
