When Bayanda Walaza, a double under-20 world champion, returns from Peru on Tuesday morning, he intends to follow his coach and his unusual running technique when he attends the University of Pretoria.
After his spectacular climb that began with the 4x100m Olympic silver at the Paris Games last month, Walaza revealed he had already rejected down a few invitations to US universities. Walaza faces matric prelim tests starting with geography on Thursday.
The 18-year-old sensation, who made it happen, intends to stay with Thabo “Coach T” Matebedi. Walaza, who won the 100- and 200-meter titles at the age-group championship in Lima last week, declared, “I’m not going to change any coaches because that can cause a lot of difficulties and all of that.”
Therefore, since my coach helped me win two gold medals, it is preferable to work with him. Why must I part ways with him since he helped me win an Olympic silver medal? The administrative capital is where Walaza, a student at Curro Hazeldean in Pretoria, hopes to study logistics, and he said he also enjoyed it. “I received three or four offers from US colleges, but I told them, ‘No, I’ll stay here,'” the speaker said.
It is therefore preferable to work with my coach because he assisted me in winning two gold medals. Now that he’s helped me win an Olympic silver medal, why must I break up with him? Walaza, a student at Curro Hazeldean in Pretoria, said he enjoyed studying logistics and aspires to pursue it in the administrative capital. “I received three or four offers from US colleges, but I told them, ‘No, I’ll stay here,'” the speaker added.
I’ve received a lot of feedback. My coach advised me to stick with what I’m doing as long as it’s working for me because who knows what might happen if I changed? It’s preferable to make the most of what you have since, despite my attractive running technique, I might not be the winner that I am now. My coach and I are putting our current work into it. If this is how I run, it would be wiser to make it more efficient rather than alter it.
Walaza acknowledged that his career truly took off in Paris. “I would say that up until that point, things were not going the way we wanted them to, so we had to work for the entire year to perfect that start. It went perfect at the right time.” That’s when it began to function in Paris. He smiled and continued, “I guess that’s another reason I won because I was abandoning them at the beginning.
