He immediately became the club’s number one and held that position until September of that year.
Spaniard Raya arrived on his first loan from Brentford in the summer transfer window and the 28-year-old was included in the England squad for the win over Everton in September.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta opted for the star forward, with Ramsdale’s only appearances since the Carabao Cup. In the summer, Ramsdale joined Gunners icon Wright, 60, for an interview on Behind The Game.
Wright appeared stunned by Ramsdale’s revelation before the keeper continued: “I had a frenzy in my head for two or three minutes, straight to football.
“I’ve got 10/15 minutes of full focus again – next thing you know it’s half time.”
A clip of the guard’s confession has now resurfaced on social media, with one fan sharing it along with several crying emojis, captioned: “Ramsdale’s days were numbered after he dropped this bombshell.
“He should have kept it to himself.”
Another Gooner shared a screenshot of Wright’s face during the interview, writing: “That reaction from Ian says it all.”
Another agreed, writing: “Ian Wrightand’s reaction and look says it all.”
Posting the same photo of Wright, another wrote: “She wished she could stop him but the words just came out.”
But not everyone was upset by Ramsdale’s comments, with many fans supporting him.
One replied: “People are taking it out of context. Obviously, it’s in a game where we have a comfortable lead.
Another said: “TBF, it’s like hunting; 90% of all people regardless of their job.”
As another commented: “Ramsdale is still our best GK by some distance.”
