Arsenal injury news as the Gunners could face the Clarets this weekend without a traditional striker option
Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah could miss this weekend’s game against Burnley
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expects Eddie Nketiah to be available for this weekend’s Premier League clash with Burnley as his side continue their good form from midweek.
The Gunners took a step closer to reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League when Leandro Trossardi and Bukayo Saka scored against La Liga side Sevilla on Wednesday night. The result provided a much-needed bounce back from home defeats to West Ham and Newcastle, but they face even more injury concerns on the European stage.
Saka was disqualified when he went down awkwardly after a tackle challenge and had to be replaced late on in favor of Jakub Kiwior. Seedling#039; another attacking option is possibly ruled out this weekend, a match against Vincent Kompany and many others.
Eddie Nketiah is also a doubt for the weekend after being ruled out ahead of the Sevilla game. The 24-year-old sprained his ankle against the Magpies at the weekend and was forced to miss the senior team’s final pre-match training session.

It comes after Gabriel Jesus missed several weeks with an injury in pre-season and another in the reverse fixture against Sevilla when he went down clutching his hamstring. Emile Smith Rowe is second in the dressing room and the Gunners boss is unsure of how he can balance the forward ranks.
andquot;I don’t know [where that perfect balance is],andquot; Arteta said. andquot;It is what we have. If you look at Gabi Jesus, he played only one game in the Premier League (forward), played three in the CL and scored four goals. It is what it is.
andquot; Nice to have Leo here who is so reliable and gives you something different for Eddie and him. I’m really pleased with them.andquot;
Will Eddie Nketiah face Burnley in Gameweek
The short answer right now is that we don’t know. Arteta hopes that Nketiah will be available due to the injury problems he is facing in the squad.
Speaking at his post-match press conference in midweek, Arteta admitted the star’s form could be considered at the weekend alongside captain Martin Odegaard. He said: andquot;They are racing against the clock to be fit.
Pep Guardiola defends Mikel Arteta in confusion over VAR run and #039; claims after Newcastle vs Arsenal
andquot;They tried their best to be here with us today, it wasn’t possible and we still have 48 hours before we play Burnley. Weand#039;ll try again and see because we need players now.andquot;
It will be a big problem for FPL managers this weekend. For the 10.4% of managers who already own the star, his haul of 17 points against Sheffield United in Gameweek 10 was a huge lift for those he was part of at the time.
And although he featured against Newcastle, the star has already been back for more than half the game weeks this season, featuring against the Blades, Bournemouth and Fulham – who are in and around this weekend, as well as opponents Burnley.
