Arsenal suffered a fresh injury blow when Eddie Nketiah was forced to miss training on Tuesday 7 November. The 24-year-old is unlikely to play in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League tie against Sevilla at the Emirates Stadium
The Gunners are currently tops of Champions League Group B with six points from two games. They beat Sevilla 2-1 last month, with Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus both scoring once. Their goal is to get all three points again tomorrow. However, Arsenal can play without the traditional starting 9 lineup. Jesus is out until next month with an injury. Nketiah is reportedly set for a late fitness test after missing 1-0 against Newcastle United at the weekend.
Nketiah has shown promise this season, scoring five goals in 16 appearances in all competitions. His absence would be a huge blow for Arsenal if he fails his fitness test. Arteta may have to be sent in for Leandro Trossard or Kai Havertz. The former recently featured as a centre-forward as a second-half substitute against Newcastle.
Richard Keys believes the Arsenal star has become Mikel Arteta’s problem
beIN sports pundit Richard Keys has criticized Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, claiming Mikel Arteta has created a major problem for himself by leaving Aaron Ramsdale on loan at Brentford.
Ramsdale was Arsenal’s preferred shot stopper at the start of the season. He has started the campaign well, keeping two clean sheets in seven appearances so far. Arteta made the bold decision to drop Ramsdale because of Raya’s better distribution. However, the Spaniard has looked far from convincing so far, something Keys has noticed.
The expert wrote in his blog
– Another thing – the discussions about the goal overshadow the other one, which Arteta cannot delay much longer. Raya is not a Ramsdale innovation. He is very poor. He nodded at Willock. He hit one of the posts in the derby v Spurs that led to Son’s equaliser, and Mudryk’s errant cross hit him badly out of position.andquot;
He added:
“Arteta has created a real problem for himself here. He’s good with his feet,” they say. Well, he wasn’t v Lens. I’m with Arsene Wenger, who recently said on beINSPORTS: “I like my goalkeeper to be able to save.”
Raya has made 10 appearances in all competitions this season and kept five clean sheets.
