Nottingham Forest player set to leave imminently, medical booked and fee agreed

Nottingham Forest are working tirelessly to strengthen their squad on the back of being announced as a participant in this season’s Europa League.

Omari Hutchinson signed for Forest from Ipswich on Saturday, and he was followed by Manchester City starlet James McAtee, who also signed on a five-year contract.

Arnaud Kalimuendo will be the next to sign for Forest, with Douglas Luiz also set to arrive at the City Ground in the coming days.

It looks like it will be an exciting end to the transfer window from a Forest perspective, but with more new players expected, it feels almost certain that others will leave, with one player now at the end of the road.

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Carlos Miguel

When Forest signed Angus Gunn, some doubts were cast as to where Miguel would fit in, and now he looks set to be heading back to his homeland.

According to SBT Rio journalist Vene Casagrande, Miguel will fly to Brazil today to undergo a medical and check in with Palmeiras in a deal worth £5 million.

Forest will make a small profit on the player who checked in from Corinthians for £4 million and the club will also hold a 20% sell-on in the event of a future transfer.

Miguel didn’t make a single appearance in the Premier League and will now link up with Ramon Sosa, who signed for Palmeiras during the summer transfer window.

Most Premier League clubs like to have three goalkeepers within their ranks and right now, Forest have Matz Sels and Gunn fighting it out for the gloves.

The third choice custodian is the very inexperienced Aaron Bott, and an injury could leave Forest very short when it comes to goalkeepers.

With that in mind, it might not be too much of a surprise should Forest look to try and sign a new keeper before the window closes in early September.

Sels is comfortably considered the club’s number one, but with Miguel heading back to Brazil, the Reds might now look for another option.
