Chelsea could well be about to address the attacking options in their side as part of the January transfer window.
It has been reported that they could lose Christopher Nkunku this month, after he has not been handed the minutes he believes he deserves this season by Enzo Maresca.
Nkunku reportedly has interest from Bayern Munich, as well as a host of other top clubs around Europe.
Reports have stated that Chelsea will be expected to pursue Liam Delap if they were to lose Nkunku this month, after his fine start to life as a Premier League striker.
Liam Delap is now open to Chelsea move in January
The Blues got a first-hand experience of his talents at the end of 2024, as he scored and caused a nuisance all game in Ipswich’s 2-0 win over them at Portman Road.
It was claimed though that Delap was focused on finishing the season at Ipswich though, and the club are unlikely to want to part ways with their key man as they push for Premier League survival.
However, Ben Jacobs has claimed that Delap would be open to a move to Stamford Bridge if the opportunity arose this month.
He told GiveMeSport: “Chelsea remain extremely keen on Liam Delap. The Ipswich Town striker has eight Premier League goals this season and is expected to be the subject of bids this summer.
“Ipswich are reluctant to sanction a sale in January, but Chelsea are serious contenders for Delap, who is open to a move to Stamford Bridge.”
The majority of striker minutes at Chelsea this season have gone to Nicolas Jackson, who has certainly impressed for large portions of his second campaign so far.
Club legend John Obi Mikel however believes Chelsea could be title contenders if they had a different player up front right now.
Delap has played near enough the same amount of minutes as Jackson this season, and his stats compare nicely to the current Blues man from a far weaker side.

One thing that a new signing will need is to be able to link up with Cole Palmer as well as Jackson does, with the duo in conversation everyday as their relationship on the pitch continues to prosper.
