Sha’Carri Richardson has kept silent amid the reports, but before the news got to the media, she hinted at having struggled to find her path this season and letting go of people who have been dragging her down.
The Olympic 100m silver medallist has struggled to make a mark in the 100m since her season opener at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix, where she finished fourth.
At the USA Track and Field Championships, Sha’Carri Richardson competed in the women’s 100m and finished second before finishing fourth in the 200m and missing a spot in the semifinal.
“Yes, it’s been a while. I’ve been surviving. I’m feeling light, I’m feeling better. I’ve let go of so many things, people that have just been holding me down as an anchor, and I feel like this weekend showed that I’m getting my confidence back,” Sha’Carri Richardson said in an interview.
Now, her main focus will be on bouncing back after the setback and ensuring she is ready to defend her title at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan in September.
