Wigan Warriors v Leeds Rhinos team news as Matt Peet makes one change to 21-man squad

Wigan Warriors coach Matt Peet has made just one change to his 21-man squad ahead of Friday night’s Super League clash with Leeds Rhinos at the Brick Community Stadium.

The Warriors are able to welcome back key prop Ethan Havard, who served his one-match suspension in last Saturday’s 32-0 Challenge Cup semi-final win over St Helens.

Havard has started nine of his 11 appearances this season, with his starting front-row partner Luke Thompson being an ever-present so far in 2026.

The England international replaces captain Liam Farrell in the only change to the 21-man squad, with the latter presumably just rested with the Challenge Cup final in three weeks’ time in mind.

Farrell has played all 14 games for Wigan so far this season, with ten of those coming in the centres while Jake Wardle was sidelined through injury.

Homegrown quartet Tom Forber, Kian McDermott, Lukas Mason and George Marsden were the four players to miss out on the matchday line-up in the win over Saints last time out – but they have retained their spots in the 21-man squad.

As for Leeds, coach Brad Arthur has made three changes from his squad that beat Wakefield Trinity a fortnight ago. England international Harry Newman is set to feature against Wigan, with Australian centre Jack Bird having had minor knee surgery that will sideline him for the next two games.

Newman has made three appearances for Hull FC on loan – but returns for the Rhinos’ trip over the Pennines this weekend.

Young forward Tom Nicholson-Watton, who has recently spent a week on loan at Castleford Tigers, comes in for Australian forward Ethan O’Neill, who has joined Hull FC on loan.

Young outside-back Riley Lumb, who has been plying his trade at Hunslet, returns to replace Harley Thomas in Arthur’s 21-man squad.

Wigan: Jai Field, Zach Eckersley, Adam Keighran, Jake Wardle, Harry Smith, Ethan Havard, Brad O’Neill, Luke Thompson, Junior Nsemba, Kaide Ellis, Sam Walters, Patrick Mago, Ollie Partington, Jack Farrimond, Sam Eseh, Tom Forber, Kian McDermott, Taylor Kerr, Lukas Mason, Noah Hodkinson, George Marsden.

Leeds: Lachie Miller, Maika Sivo, Harry Newman, Ash Handley, Ryan Hall, Brodie Croft, Jake Connor, Mikolaj Oledzki, Jarrod O’Connor, Tom Holroyd, Kallum Watkins, James McDonnell, Keenan Palasia, Chris Hankinson, Cooper Jenkins, Cameron Smith, Presley Cassell, Riley Lumb, Danny Levi, Tom Nicholson-Watton, Fergie McCormack.

The Round 11 Super League fixture takes place at the Brick Community Stadium on Friday night, 8pm kick-off. The game will be broadcast on Sky Sports Action.
