World 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson has been told what she needs to do to regain her groove following the domestic violence controversy that recently befell her.
Amid the controversy surrounding her arrest over domestic violence towards boyfriend Christian Coleman, Sha’Carri Richardson has been backed to bounce back in a big way.
Richardson was arrested a couple of weeks ago at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and booked into the South Correctional Entity (SCORE) in Des Moines, Washington, for more than 18 hours following her assault on boyfriend Christian Coleman.
The two were headed to the US Championships, which served as the trials for the 2025 World Championships, with a leaked bodycam later showing how she argued with officers while hurling insults at Coleman during her arrest.

Sha’Carri Richardson’s Words that Have Annoyed Fans During Dramatic Arrest Over Domestic Violence
Richardson has since apologised and confirmed that she will seek help over the incident but there is no denying that it has had a huge impact on her career and became a major distraction to her preparations for the World Championships.
The 25-year-old missed a 200m ticket to Tokyo after finishing fourth in her heat and there is concern that she might not defend her 100m title given the off the track distractions but Canada’s three-time Olympic medalist Aaron Brown feels Richardson can bounce back if she fixes a few things.
What Has Richardson Been Told to Work On?
“I just want to see her put together a complete race, get that start looking a little a little stronger. Go through her phases, just have a complete race, come out healthy,” Brown said on talking to Perdita Felicien for CBC Sports as quoted by Essentially Sports.

“If I see anything on the clock that says 10.8 or better, she’s right on track. And even beyond that, I just want to see her beat people, you know, take some names and be competitive, get back, you know, get build that confidence up and get in her groove.”
With Richardson scheduled to run at the Brussels Diamond League on August 22, Brown thinks a great performance will be a good confidence booster for the sprinter just in time for the World Championships.
“All she really needs is a little sliver of confidence going into Tokyo. You know, she’s been dealing with some stuff off the track. And I want to see that she’s focused, locked in, put together a strong performance that she can build off of, go into Brussels, improve there, and then she’ll be right on track, ready for Tokyo to mix it up with the best because we know she carry out her best is one of the best,” he added.
