Harry Souttar is wanted by Sheffield United this summer but he remains at Leicester City
Leicester City boss Russell Martin has confirmed he wants to keep Harry Souttar at the club after Sheffield United’s opening offers for the defender were rejected.
Souttar has been the subject of transfer speculation this summer following City’s relegation to League One. The centre-back has been linked with a return to Bramall Lane after previously spending time on loan with the Blades.
Last week, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder confirmed his desire to bring the Australian defender back to the club. It is understood that the Championship side are yet to submit an offer close to Leicester’s valuation.
On Saturday, Wilder revealed that conversations had taken place with City, but insisted the deal was now in the hands of chief executive Stephen Bettis.

Souttar played in Leicester’s behind-closed-doors friendly with Coventry City on Saturday afternoon and captained Martin’s side in the 1-0 defeat. Following the loss to Genoa later that evening, Martin gave a strong response to the ongoing speculation around the defender.
“There’s been a couple of offers, but no discussions, and the answer has been no,” he told LeicestershireLive.
“We’re looking for people who will add to the squad in a few positions. It’ll become clear for you guys over the next couple of weeks when we see people come in, we might see people go – I hope Harry’s not one of them.
“People will only leave when it’s right for us and it’s right for them, both parties are happy with how it looks. I wouldn’t usually comment on people staying or going, but we have an opposition manager in Chris, who I really like, that keeps talking about one of our players, but right now there’s literally nothing to talk about.
“He played brilliantly today [against Coventry], he’ll be involved next week, as it stands, and I’m really enjoying working with him.”
