Ipswich Town target 15-goal/assist Championship winger News:

Ipswich Town are looking into a deal for Bristol City winger Anis Mehmeti, according to Football Insider.

Ipswich Town have had a strong first half of the 2025/26 Championship campaign as they hunt for promotion back to the Premier League. ITFC were relegated from the Premier League last season, though look in a good position to return to the top flight.

The Tractor Boys currently sit only two points adrift of 2nd place Middlesbrough in 3rd, boasting a game in hand over the Teessiders. Kieran McKenna‘s side were amongst the favourites to challenge at the top end of the division and have so far done so.

With the January transfer window in full swing, the Suffolk outfit are looking to strengthen their promotion bid by adding to their plethora of options. They reportedly have their eyes set on a move for one of this season’s Championship standouts.

Football Insider are reporting that Bristol City’s Anis Mehmeti is a target for Ipswich Town as they look to enhance their chances of promotion. The 25-year-old sees his Robins contract expire in the summer of 2026 and while talks over a new deal are ongoing, the Tractor Boys could test their resolve.

Since Mehmeti’s arrival at Bristol City back in January 2023, the Albanian has produced greater levels of performances season upon season.

The Robins have acknowledged the importance of their top attacking outlet, currently remaining in discussions with the player over extending his stay in the South West of England.

Anis Mehmeti 27 14

Scott Twine 26 11

Emil Riis 26 8

Mark Sykes 20 4

Statistically, regarding goal contributions, Mehmeti has been Gerhard Struber‘s star man, proving crucial to their current push for promotion. They currently sit in 9th place, only three points adrift of the play-offs.

Last season as Bristol City made the play-offs, Mehmeti was similarly important, netting 12 times and assisting once.

However, the three-time Albania international has already surpassed his total goal contribution tally this term, with only half of the campaign played. Across all competitions, he has nine goals and three assists.

Where would Anis Mehmeti fit at Ipswich Town?

Ipswich Town already boast a number of top second tier wide talent, though continue to look to bolster their options.

The likes of Jaden Philogene, Jack Clarke and Sammie Szmodics are all well-known stars at this level. Sindre Walle Egeli looks a serious prospect, while Wes Burns is still on the books and there will be hope Kasey McAteer can come good on his sizeable summer fee.

Each attacker has contributed thus far, though none match the contribution numbers put up by Anis Mehmeti. Philogene has provided 12 combined goals and assists, Clarke has 10, whilst midfielder Marcelino Nunez has 11.

The addition of Mehmeti could help increase the sides goalscoring numbers, whilst proving a shrewd addition with his soon to be expiring contract.
