Leif Davis and Sammie Szmodics have both sent messages to Omari Hutchinson after he wrote a farewell post to Ipswich Town supporters.

The forward officially joined Nottingham Forest over the weekend, departing Portman Road after two seasons.

It was reported by The Athletic that an agreement worth £37.5 million was reached between the two clubs for the sale of the 21-year-old.

Hutchinson has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League side, who will also be competing in the Europa League this campaign.

Hutchinson has posted a farewell message to Ipswich supporters following confirmation of his move to Forest.

The forward has thanked the club for the two years he spent there, along with manager Kieran McKenna for the chance he gave him in the team.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone at the club for the memories we’ve created and to my teammates I shared a dressing room with.

“Most importantly to Kieran McKenna, I will always be grateful for what you done for me and helping me to become a better player and person.

“Towns fans, I just want to say thank you for the endless love, thank you for believing in me and making this chapter so special. Ipswich will always have a place in my heart.

Hutchinson’s former teammates Davis and Szmodics have both responded to the 21-year-old.

“Been a pleasure,” replied the Irish international, who joined Ipswich last summer.

“Marz all the best brother,” wrote Davis.

Ipswich have drawn their opening two league fixtures of the new season, with both games finishing 1-1.

Next up for McKenna’s side is a trip to face Preston North End on 23 August.

Hutchinson will be missed at Ipswich

The £37.5 million fee for Hutchinson is very good business by Ipswich, especially after a difficult Premier League campaign.

However, there is no denying he will be missed by players, staff and supporters at Portman Road after the impact he had across two seasons.

He delivered exciting moments, including strikes against Chelsea and Manchester United last season.

Losing him will be a blow to their promotion hopes, but the club still have two weeks left in the window to reinvest that money into the first team squad.
