Georgia football receives great news surrounding WR Colbie Young

It has been quite some time since Georgia football wide receiver Colbie Young has been on the field with his teammates. The last time he has played for Georgia was in their win against Auburn, and ever since then Young has been dealing with off the field legal troubles that resulted in his suspension.

However, a few weeks ago Young’s accuser asked that all charges against him be dropped. This doesn’t mean that the charges would be dropped, but it was a step in the right direction to get Young back on the field for Georgia. And late Monday night reports came out that Young is officially back on the field with his teammates.

Colbie Young is back practicing with Georgia

Brooks Austin with Sports Illustrated broke the news Monday night that Young is officially practicing with the team once again. He did clearly state that Young is not expected to play against Georgia Tech on Friday, but seeing him on the practice field again is a huge deal.

It was always going to take Young a little bit of time to get reacclimated with the team once he returned, so not playing against Georgia Tech isn’t a big deal. However, getting him back in time for the SEC Championship game and College Football Playoff would be a massive win for Georgia.

It’s no secret how much Georgia’s wide receivers have struggled with drops this season. A lot of those issues occurred after Young was no longer with the team. So getting Young back on the field should immediately help Carson Beck, the wide receiver room and the entire offense as a whole.

In Young’s five games this season, he recorded 11 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Sure those aren’t the greatest stats in the world, but it is something Kirby Smart and Georgia’s offense desperately need.

So hopefully Young is able to start playing again during the SEC Championship game, because Georgia’s chances of winning that game and making a run in the CFP increase with him on the field.
