The Georgia Bulldogs steamrolled the Mississippi State Bulldogs 41-21 on Saturday to improve to 8-1 on the season. It was a great offensive showing for UGA, but it was also a win that solidified the Bulldogs as one of the best college football programs in the nation.
Georgia walked into Starkville, MS, and completely dominated their counterpart “Bulldogs”. Nate Frazier was the highlight of the offense, as he rushed for 181 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Gunner Stockton also added three touchdowns through the air. The Bulldogs piled up a season-high 567 yards of offense on Saturday, with their biggest plays being a 59-yard run by Frazier and a 64-yard catch-and-run by Noah Thomas. But what happened that put them in exclusive FBS history?
Georgia Picks Up 900th Program Win
With the 41-21 win over Mississippi State, Georgia picked up their 900th win as a program, making it one of nine FBS teams to reach that mark. The achievement comes amidst high expectations for the team this season, reinforcing their status not just as a current elite team but as a legacy program.
Georgia won back-to-back National Championships in 2021 and 2022. Since head coach Kirby Smart took over in 2016, Georgia has had seven 10+ win seasons. The Bulldogs have had many close games on their schedule this season, but Saturday showed Georgia’s endurance and longevity as a program, and solidified their argument to be in this year’s College Football Playoff.

As for the win on Saturday, Mississippi State started the game with the ball and drove swiftly down the field for a quick 7-0 lead. However, the Dawgs did not think much of it, because they wound up scoring 38 unanswered points and taking a comfortable lead into the fourth quarter.
Season Outlook for Georgia Football
The Bulldogs would need the help of teams playing Alabama and Texas A&M to make the SEC Championship game, but if Georgia doesn’t drop two of their last three games, they are essentially a lock to make the 12-team playoff.
Georgia has just three games left on its schedule. They have a big one next Saturday in Athens against the Texas Longhorns, and then UNC Charlotte and Georgia Tech to finish out the season.
The Dawgs look to be getting better and better as the season progresses. Gunner Stockton is turning into a polished quarterback who takes care of the football and shows a lot of trust in his playmakers. Frazier’s performance today highlighted that Georgia has a versatile rushing attack, and the defense continues to get stronger with each week.
