Already making contacts” – Fabrizio Romano’s exciting update on Arsenal & Liverpool transfer target Arsenal FC Liverpool FC

Fans of Liverpool and Arsenal might be interested in this afternoon’s update from transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano. Romano has stated that Premier League teams are already in talks to sign highly-regarded teenage Ajax defender Jorrel Hato before the summer, despite the fact that he makes no mention of the Gunners or the Reds.

Despite not transferring this January, Hato appears to be a player to keep an eye on during the upcoming transfer window, as he has been connected to both Liverpool and Arsenal by other sources. “I will never apologize!” Which former Arsenal player claims he was “really p***ed off” with the treatment he received before to departing? Journalist Graeme Bailey recently revealed that Liverpool was interested in the Netherlands international, and The Athletic has connected Hato to Arsenal as a target. Given Romano’s recent update on Hato’s future, it’s possible that these teams—as well as others—are already working to get his signature for the upcoming campaign.

Mikel Arteta fires back at Jamie Carragher following criticism of Arsenal star

Mikel Arteta has responded to criticism levelled at Arsenal star by Jamie Carragher ahead of the Champions League clash with Girona

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has defended summer signing Mikel Merino following criticism from pundit Jamie Carragher. The Spanish midfielder joined Arsenal in a £32m move from Real Sociedad but has struggled for consistent game time due to injuries.

Merino, 28, has started only a third of Arsenal’s Premier League matches this season, leading Carragher to question the wisdom of the transfer. However, Arteta remains optimistic about Merino’s contributions, praising his character and recent performances.

“He’s been quite unfortunate, to be honest,” Arteta said at Tuesday’s pre-Champions League press conference. “But Mikel’s character is unbelievable. He’s so determined, and now he has some rhythm and momentum. He’s had some very good moments in the last few weeks with us.”

Although Merino missed Arsenal’s narrow 1-0 victory over Wolves due to a minor injury, he has since returned to training and is available for this weekend’s Premier League clash against Manchester City.

“Unfortunately, he had a little niggle. It was nothing serious, but when you play every two and a half days, missing two matches feels like a lot. He’s fit again, and it’s great to have him back in the team,” Arteta added.

Arsenal are set to wrap up a promising Champions League group stage campaign against Girona on Wednesday. The Gunners currently sit third in the 36-team group standings and are eager to secure their position in the knockout stages.

“We’re here to win the game, and to do that, we need to be better than them,” Arteta said, acknowledging Girona’s quality. “They’re a really good side. If you look at their Champions League games against top opposition, they’ve made life very difficult. Tomorrow, it will require a very strong performance to achieve what we want.”

In a boost for Arsenal, the FA Independent Regulatory Commission overturned the red card shown to youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly during Saturday’s match against Wolves. The decision ensures the highly-rated midfielder remains available for upcoming fixtures.

While perhaps Arsenal would prefer a week off ahead

Making his long-awaited debut following his loan move from Bournemouth. The Brazilian was cup-tied in the League Cup and like Aaron Ramsdale before him, gets a chance in the final European match of the first stage of the competition with very little to play for.

Naturally, it is practically impossible for every typical starter to be rested but Jurrien Timber is surely one near the top of the list. With both Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu not returned and some fitness doubts about Josh Nichols, Partey is basically the only choice.

After having a great match in the role against Dinamo Zagreb minus one blunder, it makes natural that Jakub Kiwior would again come back into the mix for this low-stakes encounter.

A threat from set pieces and one of Arsenal’s most reliable choices in defence. It makes logical to keep him on the team because he is the most reliable defender.

Mikel Arteta will want to play more in Riccardo Calafiori’s legs after he recovers from his injury. He and the squad have benefited greatly from his goal over the weekend, and he hopes that trend continues.

Arsenal star lifts lid on impact Myles Lewis-Skelly’s controversial red card had on Gunners

    Myles Lewis-Skelly is sent off

Lewis-Skelly was sent off in the first half for Arsenal

Jurrien Timber said the Gunners didn’t want to make a point after the red card controversy at Molineux. They just wanted to take all three.

Any moans and groans were parked at half-time as Mikel Arteta and his men sifted through the wreckage of what appeared to be a fatal decision.

Leandro Trossard makes Michael Oliver anger clear in reaction spotted on camera

Arsenal will leave it to the authorities to decide if referee Michael Oliver’s decision to send off Myles Lewis-Skelly for tripping Matt Doherty should be overturned.

But they had no redress at the interval. However, it did concentrate the visitors’ minds. Timber said: “It’s bizarre. When you are in games there are a lot of things happening. I didn’t expect a red card.

“You don’t always agree with the decisions but, in the end, you just have to accept them and go. You have to react. It’s the only thing you have in your hands. You can’t keep talking about it. So, we didn’t at half time.

“The manager told us that we needed to have courage going into the second half. That we would have to sacrifice a lot because it was going to be hard with ten men. Wolverhampton away is a tough match.

“It’s not nice to go into the second half like this. But it is what it is. We showed character. That’s what we needed. We didn’t want to prove a point, we wanted to take all three.

“That’s it. We were ten men. We felt like we deserved it. We were still trying to control the game. We did that. We pushed forward. We took our momentum and took the three points.”

Arsenal started their campaign with three dismissals in their opening eight games.

Declan Rice saw red for delaying the re-start against Brighton, picking up a second caution. It was a similar story for Leandro Trossard at Manchester City while William Saliba was dismissed for dragging down Evanilson at Bournemouth.

This was different. However, although those incidents were regrettable, they at least gave the Gunners an inkling of how to push on. And that’s exactly what they did. The visitors emerged with a renewed sense of vigour, taking the game to Wolves.

They were helped by Joao Gomes’s two rash moments. He was booked for kicking the ball away in the first-half. Wolves boss Vitor Pereira told the Brazil international to ‘be careful’ after the break. He wasn’t watchful enough and a lunge at Timber saw him dismissed.

Perhaps the Portuguese should have headed that one off and substituted the midfielder who was walking a tightrope after also committing a couple of fouls in the opening 45 minutes. Following his dismissal, the air of optimism evaporated quickly.

Riccardo Calafiori produced what the Dutchman described as ‘a striker’s finish’ to convert in the final quarter after Nelson Semedo headed clear Gabriel Martinell’s right-wing cross. Timber added: “It’s not the first time it’s happened to us.

Leandro Trossard makes Michael Oliver anger clear in reaction spotted on camera

“It’s still hard but on the other side we also know how to deal with it now. We’ve been through a lot this season. But we would never not fight. This is the character of the team. Our defence showed we are a team – and we are not easy to beat.

“And we gained energy. Games like this give you that. The way the fans reacted to the red card – it got us going.”

football news | Arsenal could make surprise striker signing – David Ornstein

The Gunners are short up front at the moment after a serious knee injury for Gabriel Jesus. He could be sidelined for the rest of the year.

Kai Havertz has played as the main striker for the past few games, but the German has looked jaded with the heavy workload on him.

Arsenal desperately need to freshen up their strikeforce and Ornstein admits that they could do something before the window closes.

He has no idea over potential targets, but acknowledged that there is no chance that Alexander Isak will join the Gunners this winter.

Newcastle United are pushing for Champions League football and have no plans of strengthening their top-four rivals mid-season.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is also expected to stay put. He could, however, move from the Bundesliga outfit in the summer.

Akani Simbine has explained the reason behind his decision to avoid placing himself in the same class as Usain Bolt and other legendary sprinters.

South African sprinting sensation Akani Simbine has detailed why he does not want to be named among the greatest sprinters just yet.

The Olympic 4x100m silver medallist is not yet ready to be named alongside the likes of Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, Justin Gatlin, and Noah Lyles as he eyes greater milestones going forward in his career.

Despite being one of the most consistent sprinters of all time and a former African record holder, he revealed that there are things he wants to achieve first before being recognised as one of the greats.

In an interview with Team South Africa, Akani Simbine revealed that he wants to leave a strong legacy, not just in sports but in every sector in his home country.

He believes that South Africa has the potential to excel in sports, the economy, and technology among many other projects if they put their best foot forward.

“I don’t see myself as that you know, because my story is still being written but there’s two parts of that, I know I’m one of them, I know I’m part of that story and list but now I’m not trying to kind of like get lost in that,” Akani Simbine said.

“There’s still so much that I want to do with my running and with how I am as a sprinter and how I show South Africa that we can be great and we can compete against the world. that’s my whole thing, in every facet, we have the resources and we can be anything.”

Akani Simbine then won the 100m at the Diamond League Meeting in Suzhou before competing at the World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas.

After that, Akani Simbine competed at the Diamond League Meeting in Oslo, the Meeting Madrid 2024, Gyulai István Memorial, Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix and then the Diamond League Meeting in London before heading to the Paris Olympic Games where he finished fourth in the men’s 100m final.

Akani Simbine also anchored the South African 4x100m relay team to a silver medal behind Team Canada. After the Olympic Games, he raced twice before rounding up his season at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels where he finished fifth.

He now hopes to build up from where he left from as he looks to impress at this season and also make the cut to the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Howard Webb urged to DROP Michael Oliver after Arsenal red card controversy

Referee Michael Oliver of the Premier League faced criticism after he decided to dismiss Myles Lewis-Skelly of Arsenal during the Gunners’ 1-0 victory over Wolves on Saturday.

  • PGMOL make decision on Michael Oliver and VAR after Arsenal red card controversy vs Wolverhampton

According to Sky Sports, referee Michael Oliver’s decision to give Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly a straight red versus Wolverhampton Wanderers had the support of Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL). On Saturday, January 25, during the first half of the Premier League match at the Molineux, the contentious incident took place. After a pause in play in the second half, Matt Doherty’s counterattack propelled the home team forward. But Lewis-Skelly defeated him, and Michael Oliver then gave him his marching instructions. Many people thought the referee would have given the Englishman a yellow card instead, therefore it was a contentious decision. Arsenal was reduced to 10 men after VAR examined the incident and validated the ruling. Remarkably, Joao Gomes of the Wolves received his second yellow card in

Although they have a game in hand and are six points behind leaders Liverpool, Arsenal has also been playing well in the Premier League. This season, Mikel Arteta’s side has scored 44 goals and given up 21 goals in 13 league victories and two league losses. In the meanwhile, if the red card isn’t reversed, Myles Lewis-Skelly might have to serve a long ban. For a major offense, a straight red can result in a three-match suspension. As a result, the Englishman might miss the EFL Cup match against Newcastle United as well as the Premier League matches against Manchester City and Leicester City.

Manchester City Are Set To Trigger The £85 Million Release Clause Of The Arsenal Target

In the whirlwind of the January transfer window, the saga surrounding Kieran Tierney’s future has taken a dramatic turn. Initially, there was a widespread belief that the Scottish international would be making a move before the window closed. Numerous clubs had shown interest in recruiting the 27-year-old left-back, whose contract with Arsenal is set to conclude at the end of this season. However, despite the anticipation, it now seems that Tierney’s much-talked-about departure from Arsenal will not occur until the summer.

Celtic, the club where Tierney honed his skills and captured the hearts of fans, quickly emerged as the frontrunner to secure his services. From the outset, it appeared that a January transfer was on the cards, with many expecting the former Arsenal defender to don the green and white of Celtic once again. Yet, recent developments suggest a different timeline. Instead of an immediate transfer, Tierney is reportedly on the brink of signing a pre-contract agreement with Celtic, which would see him return to his boyhood club once his current deal with Arsenal expires.

This Arsenal star is on the verge of leaving Arsenal permanently:

This strategic move towards a pre-contract signifies that while Tierney’s heart may be set on returning to Glasgow, both parties involved have decided on patience rather than haste. The Telegraph has highlighted this as an emotional homecoming for Tierney, who has evidently chosen the call of his roots over potential offers from other European leagues or a continued stay in England’s top flight.

The decision to wait until the summer for this transfer does not stem from any complications in negotiations but rather from a calculated approach to secure the best outcome for all parties. By opting for a pre-contract, Tierney ensures he can return to Celtic without Arsenal receiving any transfer fee, a scenario that reflects his desire to go back to where his professional journey began.

This delay also provides Tierney with the opportunity to complete the season with Arsenal, potentially showcasing his talents in any remaining matches and leaving on a high note. Meanwhile, Celtic can plan their squad’s future with the certainty of having one of their prodigal sons back, adding his experience and skill to their lineup for the upcoming season.

As the transfer window nears its close, fans, pundits, and the clubs themselves will keep a keen eye on this developing story. The narrative of Tierney’s return to Celtic, now set for the summer, is not just about a transfer; it’s about a homecoming, a testament to the bond between player and club, and a strategic move that could benefit both Tierney’s career trajectory and Celtic’s ambitions in Scottish and European football.

Arsenal dominated the first half and should have been in front before the game took a dramatic turn as Michael Oliver controversially sent off Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Halfway through the second half, Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes was sent off for a second yellow card for a challenge on Jurrien Timber.

Gave everything down the right flank, solid in his defensive work and tried to support Martinelli in attack. Drew the foul from Joao Gomes that gave the Wolves midfielder his second yellow card.

    William Saliba- 7

Not his usual calm and composed self upon return from injury. Sloppy on the ball at times and looked rushed in his decision making.

Second half was back to his commanding presence and marshalled an Arsenal back four in difficult circumstances down to ten men.

    Gabriel Magalhaes- 7.5

A real captain’s performance from the Brazilian. Lead by example with some strong defending and stood strong with the side down to ten men for much of the second half.

    Myles Lewis-Skelly-5

Another promising performance from the youngster before his controversial red card. Lewis-Skelly can find himself extremely unfortunate to be sent off for what looked like a routine booking.

Ultimately, his tackle cost Arsenal a vital three points, which is extremely harsh on the youngster given his bright start to the game.

    Thomas Partey – 6.5

Neat and tidy in possession and kept a close eye on Matheus Cunha throughout the game. Broke play up at will in the second half however, did have a couple of moments being sloppy in possession at the end of the game.

    Declan Rice- 7.5

Worked tremendously hard as always in both an attacking sense and covering Lewis-skelly’s ventures forward. Rice has really stepped up as a leader of this Arsenal side in recent weeks and today was no different. Superb performance.

    Ethan Nwaneri- 5

Tried to pick up pockets of space but found it difficult to get on the ball and dictate at times. Substituted at half time as part of re-shuffle following Lewis-Skelly red card.

    Gabriel Martinelli- 5

Looked bright in the first half with some excellent movement but failed to find a decisive final ball. Failed to get the better of his man Agbadou in the second half at a time when his team really needed him to.

    Leandro Trossard- 5

Sloppy on the ball in initial stages that almost led to a sensational Wolves opener on the break but delivered two exquisite crosses that Havertz should have buried in the first half.

Set-piece deliveries were poor all afternoon, the Belgian took the corners with his left foot but failed to beat the first man on a number of occasions.

Made himself a physical presence all game long but once again his afternoon will be remembered for crucial missed opportunities. Should have scored a hat trick of headers, two in the first half from Trossard deliveries.

Havertz then headed over from just six yards following a wicked Declan Rice set-piece, he should have buried all three opportunities.
