On August 5th, journalist Florian Plettenberg reported Nottingham Forest have Red Bull Salzburg’s Mads Bidstrup in their target list for this summer.
Five days later, Red Bull Salzburg sporting director Rouven Schröder urged fans to relax because they are optimistic of retaining the 24-year-old. He has left the door open for a move, after insisting he’s happy in Austria.
Schröder’s comments don’t seem to have put off Nottingham Forest if Monday’s edition of Salzburger Nachrichten is to be believed.
The midfielder has a contract lasting until 2028 and is currently valued at €10m by Transfermarkt. It’s claimed Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are willing to offer €20m including bonuses.
It’s likely the Premier League club signalled their intention to Red Bull Salzburg to make this offer. The fee mentioned is tempting for the Austrian club, but the report states their directors, Stephan Reiter and Rouven Schröder, have rejected it.
Red Bull Salzburg are pleased with the Denmark international’s performances and his leadership role, especially during difficult situations.
Despite this and the player’s love for the Austrian club and city, the Premier League is naturally ‘tempting’ for the former Brentford man.
Therefore, the newspaper question how Red Bull Salzburg will react if Nottingham Forest were to make an offer higher than €20m.
