Nottingham Forest are set to complete a deal for Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, with Edu and the recruitment team beating Brentford to his signature.
Forest face Brentford on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, looking to take advantage of Yoane Wissa’s impending move to Newcastle United keeping him out of the Bees squad.
On the Reds’ side, Forest want to complete a deal for James McAtee ahead of Sunday’s game, adding to an exciting attacking line-up which already boasts new signings Dan Ndoye and Igor Jesus.
The new-look frontline is set to be boosted further as Forest move close to signing Kalimuendo, a brilliant addition who was also on the radar of Sunday’s opponents.

Nottingham Forest beat Brentford to Arnaud Kalimuendo
Forest fans were buzzing about the Kalimuendo news as the Frenchman will provide even more attacking threat to the Reds, boasting 17 Ligue 1 goals last season.
Clearly, though, Forest weren’t the only club in the Premier League to take an interest in the 23-year-old’s ability, with Sunday’s opponents Brentford also pushing to sign Kalimuendo.
According to Ben Jacobs, Brentford were in “advanced talks” with Kalimuendo to bring him to the Gtech Community Stadium before Forest swooped in to agree terms with both the player and Rennes.
Perhaps highlighting the pull of Europa League football, it’s very promising to see Forest pull ahead of the likes of Brentford in terms of attracting talent, showing that Nuno Espírito Santo’s project is one that players are excited about.
It’s not just Nuno’s influence, though, with the role of Edu at the City Ground becoming crucial in these decisive weeks of the transfer market.
Edu deserves credit as Nottingham Forest’s transfer business picks up
Arriving with a strong reputation, Edu’s detailed transfer process at Arsenal was a source of excitement for Reds fans, but also a potential concern with Forest needing to push ahead with improvements this summer.
Before Kalimuendo, Forest beat Napoli to Dan Ndoye despite the Serie A champions having Champions League football to offer, an indication that the recruitment team can battle with the best.
After Ndoye, the Reds’ agreement to sign McAtee is also worth noting as McAtee had the chance to sign for Borussia Dortmund, another club that could offer Champions League football.
With Kalimuendo the next in line to favour a move to the City Ground, it’s clear that the Reds’ remarkable 24/25 campaign has given the club a platform to make real progress this summer.
