Crystal Palace have made contact to sign Arsenal youngster Dan Casey, while the Gunners are hoping to tie him down to a new deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.
It’s been a slow start to the summer transfer window for the Eagles, with Oliver Glasner’s side securing just two signings so far. Borna Sosa and Walter Benitez have arrived through the door, but there’s a good chance both players are backup options, playing behind Tyrick Mitchell and Dean Henderson, respectively.
Plenty of the transfer speculation at Selhurst Park has been around potential outgoings, with both Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi linked with moves away from the club. If Palace want to go to the next level and compete in Europe, after they qualified last season, there’s no doubt they desperately need to bolster their options.

Reporting on X, Romano has confirmed that Palace have made contact with Arsenal over the potential signing of Casey. The Gunners have offered him a new contract as his deal has now expired, with talks ongoing. Palace have made contact as they could agree a compensation package to take him from the Gunners this summer.
“Crystal Palace and Norwich both made contact with Arsenal for 2007-born talent Dan Casey. Arsenal have also tabled an offer to keep Casey as he’s currently out of contract, talks ongoing. Casey (20 goals with U18 last season) could leave if a compensation package is agreed.”
Casey has been scoring goals for fun at youth level for the Gunners, and he’s a versatile option in the final third. The 17-year-old has featured in a host of different positions during his career, whether that be in the number 10, out wide, or through the middle of attack as a centre-forward.
If Palace were able to secure the signature of Casey, it’s unlikely that he’s going to be involved with the senior squad any time soon. Although it’s exciting for Palace supporters to see them trying to poach young talent from top Premier League clubs, there’s no doubt they’ll be desperate to see senior additions arrive through the door, with the 2025/2026 campaign getting underway this weekend.
Glasner’s side start the Premier League season with a short trip to Chelsea, before hosting Nottingham Forest the following week.
