Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna will be desperate to keep the star in high demand from the Premier League.
Ipswich Town kicked off their 2025/26 Championship campaign against newly promoted Birmingham City on Friday evening.
Jay Stansfield opened the scoring for the Blues to spark celebrations in the St Andrew’s stands, before a controversial late Ipswich penalty was dispatched by George Hirst to equalise.
With the transfer window still open for almost another month, the Ipswich side that faced the Blues could be vastly different come the September 1 deadline.
Now, reports have emerged after the Blues draw that one of Kieran McKenna’s crucial players has been targeted by Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest set to bid for Ipswich Town defender Leif Davis
Following their relegation from the Premier League, several Ipswich stars have been targeted by Premier League suitors.
Chelsea signed Liam Delap from Ipswich in a £30m deal, and his countryman Omari Hutchinson has been touted for an instant top flight return.
Hutchinson’s move to Brentford fell through, and since then, David Ornstein outlined on X that Nottingham Forest had a bid worth £35m rejected by Ipswich, given that Tractor Boys want a “higher fee”.
Now, Forest have reportedly targeted Hutchinson’s teammate, Leif Davis. Reporter Ben Jacobs revealed on X: “Nottingham Forest are preparing a bid for Ipswich defender Leif Davis.
“Ipswich have already rejected offers from Premier League clubs this summer.”
Sky Sports add that the Tractor Boys have “no intention of selling” the left-back.
Davis played the full 90 minutes against Birmingham prior to the Forest interest, and McKenna will be fearful as Ipswich could lose the two key men after the season has started.
Kieran McKenna must keep Leif Davis at Ipswich Town
After Birmingham held Ipswich to a draw on Friday, McKenna made an honest admission about Ipswich’s prospects this season, outlining that there is “a lot of work to do” on the training pitch and in the transfer market.
Davis was impressive in defence and attack for Ipswich at Birmingham, winning 100 percent of his defensive duels.
The curtain-raiser clash at Birmingham was an early wake-up call for Ipswich that the 2025/26 Championship season will not be an easy task for the relegated side.
Keeping the likes of Davis and Hutchinson will be pivotal to Ipswich’s instant promotion quest, but the allure of top flight football could prove too attractive for the Tractor Boys duo.
