GdS: Birthday present ready as Jashari-Milan should materialise in the next 48 hours

Ardon Jashari is now truly just one step away from joining AC Milan, following an improved offer and continuous contacts to get the deal done over the weekend.

As reported in today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Jashari could end up getting the move to Milan as a birthday present. The midfielder will turn 23 on Wednesday and as things stand, everything suggests that the deal will be done by then.

In just twelve months, Jashari has gone from a €6m player (which is what Club Brugge paid to Luzern) to Milan’s third most-expensive midfield signing in history. Rui Costa is in first place at €41m, Lucas Paqueta in second at €38m and soon Jashari in third at €35m.

After initially offering €32.5m as the fixed part plus bonuses, Milan have agreed to increase the fixed part to €35m plus some bonuses, albeit less than the initial offer. It’s an offer that should satisfy the Belgian side, who can rely on more money immediately.

The salary should be around €2.5m per season, which is a good figure for the Rossoneri’s standards, but it would be more than double what Jashari currently earns. As expected, it will be a five-year deal (until 2030) to spread the transfer fee over as many years as possible.

Final green light by Sunday

So, then, what is the timeline for the deal? Milan are expecting a final answer from Club Brugge on Sunday evening, or rather the definitive green light for the move. If everything goes according to play, Ardon will head to San Siro for the third time.

The last time was on October 22nd, during the Champions League match between the Rossoneri and Club Brugge. While the home side won, Jashari played a good game and caught the attention of the Milan management.

The first time was on November 23, 2011, in the Champions League match between Milan and Barcelona. Allegri was on the bench and Jashari was in the stands. “I was eight years old. Since that day, playing at San Siro has always been my dream,” he has previously said.

Next week could start with Jashari joining Milan. Of course, he needs to complete the medical tests and sign his contract, but this could probably be done before his birthday on Wednesday. Then, Milan will have their final friendly of the Asian-Australian pre-season tour on Thursday.

It seems unlikely that Jashari will join the team in Australia, but everything depends on when the deal will be completed. Training will resume at Milanello on August 5th, with at least one special addition to the midfield: Modric will be there, and Jashari could be there.

After Luzern and Club Brugge, Milan would be the third stop in his career. The red and black jersey, meanwhile, would be the fourth in his professional career, including the Swiss national team.
