GREG COTE’S NFL WEEK 14 THURSDAY PICK
A Game of the Week-caliber, NFC playoffs-caliber matchup launches King Sport’s Week 14 — the last week (Hallelujah!) encumbered by byes. A Packers upset would make it a three-team race for the crown in the rugged NFC North. Detroit is on a 5-1 series run in the rivalry including a 24-14 win Nov. 3. But Green Bay has not lost since then, and also won in the Lions’ lair last season.
No flukes in this matchup, with Lions No. 1 in scoring offense and an underrated No. 2 on defense, and Pack top 10 in both and 4-1 on the road. Both played on Thanksgiving, with Gee Bees looking better than Motown, which barely (bearly?) got past Chicago. Penalties and a pick-six hurt GB in its earlier loss to DET, and Pack will need a cleaner game for the upset here. See Jared Goff and Jordan Love fronting a prime-time shootout — and Lions at home with a small spread to cover too much to pass up.
