The coach of the Detroit Lions showed clear concern when a star player inadvertently exposed plays.

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs may have unintentionally revealed some of his team’s offensive playcalls on social media, leading to a reaction from head coach Dan Campbell. After the Lions’ thrilling 23-20 win over the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving, Gibbs posted a celebratory photo featuring teammate Jermar Jefferson.

Gibbs, riding high from the victory, had rushed for 87 yards on 9 carries, helping Detroit reach an 11-1 record. However, in the background of the photo, a whiteboard appeared to display the Lions’ running back dropback protections.

When asked about the potentially exposed play details, Campbell, who was unaware of the incident, appeared visibly concerned.

“Oh I didn’t know that,” he admitted, frustration clear in his voice. “Yeah, I need to check on that. Did not know that. Yeah, I’d rather our stuff not be out there.”

After addressing the issue, Campbell briefly thanked the media and quickly left the stage. His reaction made it clear that the head coach was not happy about the potential leak of his team’s strategies.

Gibbs likely didn’t mean to reveal any strategic information, but there’s speculation over whether he could face any consequences from the team, particularly if he was the one to share the image. The details shown on the whiteboard remain unclear, so it’s uncertain how much tactical insight was actually exposed.

This season, Detroit’s offense is known for designing plays in the huddle, with code words for audibles at the line and a backup signal indicated by Jared Goff’s “Kill! Kill!” shout.

Despite the mishap, Campbell runs a tight ship and is expected to address the situation privately with Gibbs, offering guidance on the matter of sharing images online. While rivals may not gain much useful information from the post, they’ll likely still analyze it.

Gibbs, alongside David Montgomery, forms one of the most dangerous running back duos in the NFL, drawing comparisons to video game legends Sonic and Knuckles. By week 12, Gibbs had amassed 973 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, plus 282 receiving yards and another touchdown.

The Lions, with Gibbs in the mix, are set to face the Green Bay Packers in a Thursday Night Football game on December 5.
