Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce opened up about how she maintains her friendship with Elaine Thompson-Herah, working around the clock to ensure what happens on the track does not affect them.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce explained that both her and Elaine Thompson-Herah know that when they step on the track, it’s always business as usual and everyone always knows they are after their targets and no matter the position any of them finishes, there are no hard feelings.

The 10-time world champion added that they always hang out aside from training and they encourage each other during tough times. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce pointed out that training together also strengthened their bond and knowing their priorities worked out in their favour.

“As an athlete, I believe that it’s always competition and when we get to the line, you are competing for your goals and what you want to achieve and when you cross that line, it’s okay,” Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce said.

“It’s finished and we are not competing anymore and Elaine and I are friends and in training, we are always encouraging each other. Sometimes, you want to get away from training and everything and you just want to relax. I don’t think it’s healthy to always be invested in training all the time. You can take time off and have a conversation and be genuine,” she added.

The duo has been impressive, placing Jamaica on the global scene when it comes to sprinting and has kept the fire burning on and off the track. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson-Herah both trained under coach Stephen Francis before the former exited and was shortly followed by the latter.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce then started working with Reynaldo Walcott before Elaine Thompson-Herah joined her.

At the moment, they have both left Reynaldo Walcott and rumours have it that they might be making a return to the MVP Track Club. However, none of the sprinting stars have confirmed the news and are yet to announce their next coaches.
