Year in and year out, Georgia football seems to have a strong draft class, but they also get a lot of players going into the league as undrafted free agents. Some of those players, even though they didn’t hear their names called a the draft, go on to have great NFL careers, and Nazir Stackhouse could just be the next former Bulldog to do the same.
Signed as an undrafted free agent this offseason by the Green Bay Packers, Stackhouse is now in training camp and is already showing he can hang with the big dogs. Stackhouse is not the only Georgia Bulldog to wear the green and yellow, but he is the most recent and could find himself on the 53-man roster at the end of training camp.
The Packers were excited to bring in Stackshouse because of the role he will be able to play on the defensive line, and according to Bleacher Report, he has been named the most likely undrafted free agent to make the final roster.
Stackhouse could take over the position of TJ Slaton, who left the Packers in free agency this offseason. Even though the Packers have some guys that could fill that position, Stackhouse has the ability to fill more space and keep the point of attack the same as the biggest defensive lineman at camp right now.
The former Bulldog still has his struggles with the double team, but he has better technique that will help him win the role for the Packers this season.
Nazir Stackhouse opens up about his struggle with sleeping disorder
Not only is Stackhouse hitting headlines with the possibility of making the final roster for the Packers, but he also has opened up about his struggle with narcolepsy. Narcolepsy is a sleeping disorder that causes the person to fall asleep at random times, and while Stackhouse has dealt with this his whole life, he wasn’t formally diagnosed until his sophomore year at Georgia.
Stackhouse talked about how he would fall asleep many times on the sidelines during games, sometimes in between defensive drives and even during halftime. Sometimes, in order to stay away during team meetings, he would stand instead os it in order to try his best not to fall asleep.
Opening up about this has caused Stackhouse to have more media attention on him, but clearly, he isn’t letting it affect his game.
