The Chelsea player Ipswich Town have ‘asked for’ in Liam Delap transfer talks and whether he’s ‘interested’ in move

Chelsea are interested in signing Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap to strengthen their forward line.

Several other clubs have been linked with him, but it has been claimed that Chelsea are in pole position to sign Liam Delap.

With Ipswich Town fighting for their lives at the bottom of the Premier League table, though, the Blues may have to wait until the summer to land the 21-year-old. Ipswich will not want to sell their talisman in the middle of the season with what is at stake.

Nevertheless, it looks like they have been in talks with Chelsea over a potential deal and have even used discussions as an opportunity to ask for one of their players.

Ipswich Town enquired about Carney Chukwuemeka

One Chelsea player who could leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer market closes next week is Carney Chukwuemeka.

The midfielder is not part of Enzo Maresca‘s plans, failing to make a single appearance in the Premier League this season.

However, one club whom he is unlikely to join this month is Ipswich. Journalist Simon Phillips recently shared on his Substack Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that in Chelsea’s initial talks with Ipswich about Delap, the newly-promoted club “asked for” Chukwuemeka, but the 21-year-old is “not interested” in a move there.

Enzo Maresca deserves criticism for handling of Carney Chukwuemeka

Chukwuemeka is a talented footballer who can play in midfield, an area where Chelsea have had problems.

Romeo Lavia cannot stay fit, while Enzo Fernandez has had a couple of very minor issues this season.

Even so, Maresca has still overlooked Chukwuemeka in the current campaign, not even handing him a single minute of football in the top flight.

His treatment has been harsh; Chukwuemeka should have got more of a look-in, especially in the absence of Lavia. It really is a surprise that the Chelsea head coach has not been criticised for his handling of the England youth international.
