Ole Miss Crushes Georgia State in 2025 Home Opener 63-7

Ah. It’s finally back. There is truly no better way to spend a Saturday than watching Ole Miss Football beat the brakes off someone.

Questions and more questions surround this year’s team as the amount of talent that needed replaced was overwhelming. After an electric start featuring a lot of Dae’Quan Wright, the growing pains for this team showed themselves in a hurry.

The offensive line struggled to protect Austin Simmons early, leading to his first interception of the season. Simmons also chose to pass almost every time on the RPO early in the game. Despite the brief bumpy ride early in the first half, the Rebels settled in to issue a beat down.

Kewan Lacy became just the third Rebel to score three touchdowns in his debut, joining Scottie Phillips and the law firm better known as BenJarvus Green-Ellis. His stellar play may have caused you to forget about Logan Diggs being listed as an “or” as the backup with Damien Taylor (until he busted off a 50 yard run before an eventual touchdown in the fourth when it was wrapped up).

Simmons finished the evening with 341 yards passing and three touchdowns while Lacy added 108 yards to his three scores.

Harrison Wallace III and Dae’Quan Wright were Simmons’ favorite targets, combining for nine catches, 208 yards and two scores. Eight different Rebels caught at least two passes on the night.

The Rebel defense stood strong, being on the field for almost 32 minutes of game time and only giving up 260 yards of total offense to one of the most impressive running back rooms in the country.

TJ Dottery led the way with nine total tackles and big Zxavian Harris had the lone sack and interception for the team.

Ole Miss is the first team in the SEC to open the season three years in a row scoring 60+ points, now they just need to do that every week.
