Nottingham Forest edging closer to £11m transfer with medical booked this week after offer accepted

Nottingham Forest are set to complete the signing of a player that has been chased all summer long with a breakthrough in negotiations.

The Reds are keen to finalise their squad and clearly Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to get players through the door before Saturday’s opener against Bournemouth.

Forest have added six players to their ranks already this summer and now signing number seven looks to be getting closer.

The last signing the club made was that of Jota Silva who checked in from Vitoria and now it’s another winger who looks set to join the ranks.

John Percy delivers exciting Nottingham Forest update

The saga involving the Reds and Ramon Sosa is nearing a conclusion with Forest making a breakthrough in negotiations.

Terms have now been agreed upon, according to Percy, and a medical is being booked for later this week with Sosa set to fly to England.

Sosa will cost Forest just £11 million and it’s believed that Talleres were forced to act after the player refused to play their Copa Libertadores game later this week.

The winger will become signing number seven and he will arrive on Trentside with an abundance of potential.

He recently drew rave reviews whilst playing for Paraguay at the Copa America and last season was a good one for him.

During the 2023/24 campaign, he’s made 21 appearances, registering seven goals and claiming six assists for the Argentine top-flight outfit.

Sosa will have to work to get Forest starting berth

With Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga pretty much nailed on as regular starters, Sosa will have his work cut out to get a place in the team.

However, one thing the Reds didn’t have in great depth last season was options from the bench.

Now, with Sosa and Silva on board, the options for Espirito Santo look a lot more appealing and hopefully, this can aid as the season progresses.

The 24-year-old doesn’t have any experience to speak of in Europe but that doesn’t really matter.

He will be playing with a group of players who are pretty much the similar age range and that should help him settle in at the City Ground.

Sosa can also play through the middle but it’s likely that he will compete with the wingers for a place out wide in Espirito Santo’s team.

It’s been a long time coming but Sosa to Forest finally looks like all systems go.
