Leicester’s Present and Ex Players Compete in World Cup Qualifiers and Other Internationals

 

Jordan James is among a group of current and ex Leicester players representing on international duty. James, just joined from Rennes on loan, is on 20 caps so far for Wales. The Dragons will play Canada in a friendly as well as the World Cup qualifier vs. Kazakhstan. Danny Ward will miss the two games, being injured for Wrexham in their last match.

 

 

Jannik Vestergaard is in the Denmark squad playing Scotland and Greece. Mads Hermansen and Kasper Schmeichel are also called up. Vestergaard is the most underrated player and by many been talked down. He is a brilliant player with special skills. I am glad Marti Cifuentes understands the importance, brilliant.

 

Jordan Ayew (Ghana) and Patson Daka (Zambia) also out on international duty. Abdul Fatawu is not included in the Ghana squad. Ghana will play Chad and Mali. Woyo Coulibaly has not been called up for the Mali squad. Zambia facing Morocco. Bilal El Khannouss is in their squad, so a match between the two players still Leicester property.

 

 

Ben Nelson, Jeremy Monga, Hugo De Lisle and Louis Page could all feature for England youth teams. Monga played 70 minutes for England U19 in a game vs. Ukraine. England winning 2-0. Nelson is in the England U21 squad, Page in the U.18 group, De Lisle representing U.17. Liverpool midfielder and former Leicester academy recruit Trey Nyoni is also in the U19 set up.

 

 

Chris Popov (Wales) and Ryan Donnelly (Northern Ireland) representing their nations in UEFA U21 EURO qualifiers. Popov and Wales are playing Denmark. N Ireland will play Georgia.

 

Stoke goalkeeper and former Leicester academy goalkeeper Viktor Johansson is in the Sweden squad for their World Cup qualifiers vs. Kosovo and Slovenia. Demerai Gray is in the Jamaica squad, not having Bobby De-Cordova Reid and Brandon Cover not named.

 

 

Wilfred Ndidi (Besiktas) and Ademola Lookman (Atalanta) are in the Nigeria squad for their games vs. South Africa and Rwanda. Kelechi Iheanacho is not included. He recently joined Celtic.

 

Timothy Castagne and Youri Tielemans are both included in the Belgium squad for the games vs. Liechtenstein and Kazakhstan. Wout Faes has been left out. Kasey McAteer is in the Ireland squad for their games vs. Hungary and Armenia.
