Leicester City have made their latest addition, confirming the signing of a Manchester United striker on their official website.
Leicester City are aiming for success in the EFL Championship this season, following their relegation from the Premier League.
The Foxes, who won the Premier League famously in the 2015-16 season, were relegated following an 18th placed finish in the league which saw them pick up just 25 points.
Meanwhile, in England’s second tier this season, the outfit have experienced difficulties with City sitting in mid-table currently heading into the second half of the season having picked up just 37 points in the campaign so far.
But, with the Foxes just four points away from the play-off places, Marti Cifuentes’ side may look to improve their squad in the transfer window to boost their chances of promotion.
However, it is not just the men’s team that are striving for success with the women’s side competing in the Women’s Super League this season.
Just like the men’s side, the side have struggled to push themselves towards the submit of the table with them picking up just nine points this season.
With this in mind, survival may be the aim for the outfit this season.
Now, the side have signed a Manchester United forward as they aim to push themselves further away from the relegation zone.
Taking to their official website, Leicester City revealed: “Rachel Williams has become our latest January signing having joined our LCFC Women First Team from Manchester United in a permanent transfer, subject to clearances.”
The statement continued: “The vastly experienced 38-year-old forward signs a one-and-a-half-year contract at King Power Stadium, with the Football Club holding an extension option.”
Speaking for the first time as a Fox, Williams commented: “I started my career here and I’ve always said I’d like to come back. Leicester is my hometown, I absolutely love Leicester and have always followed the Foxes.“
But, with her permanently moving to Leicester, her time at United has come to an end.
