Ipswich Town: Jens Cajuste stalls Besiktas move as Blues enquire

Jens Cajuste has reportedly stalled his move to Besiktas following an enquiry from Ipswich Town.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Portman Road, featuring 30 times in the Premier League as the Blues were relegated.

Manager Kieran McKenna subsequently revealed that they would like to bring Cajuste back from Napoli ahead of their Championship campaign, but admitted that it would be a difficult deal to do.

Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Udinese are among those to have been linked, although it became clear that Turkish side Besiktas were the frontrunners, with Fabrizio Romano claiming that his loan move (with a €6.5m option to buy) was agreed.

There has seemingly been a twist in the tale since then, with Alfredo Pedulla of Football Italia revealing that an enquiry from Ipswich has caused the move to stall.

The report adds that, while Besiktas have been pushing to close a deal with Napoli, they are yet to do so with Cajuste himself. Now, with Town back at the table, the Swedish international is ‘expected to take his time and evaluate his best next steps’.

In an exclusive interview with the East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star, chairman Mark Ashton said: “A deal or Jens to be here for the long term, it would need to be something that’s right for us – and that dialogue continues.”
