The Florida Gators have secured another commitment flip for their 2025 football recruiting class, this time from the Florida State Seminoles.
Byron Louis, a four-star running back in the 2025 class, has announced his switch from Florida State to Florida. He made the announcement just days after the Gators defeated the Ole Miss Rebels to extend their winning streak. Louis had initially committed to FSU but made the change after the Seminoles’ season took a downward turn.

The talented running back had previously narrowed his choices down to Florida, Florida State, and Wisconsin. After spending time with the Gators coaching staff and seeing the program’s success, he decided to flip to Florida. With Louis’ commitment, the majority of the Gators’ 2025 class now consists of players who had originally committed to other programs.
Louis joins Tramell Jones Jr. and Ty Jackson as significant flips, both of whom are four-star prospects. Jackson, a highly regarded linebacker, is expected to receive a five-star rating soon due to his exceptional skills. Jones Jr. also switched from Florida State to Florida, much like Louis.
Stephon Shivers, Muizz Tounkara, and Jahari Medlock are among those who have also recently flipped to Florida in the past week.
Louis now becomes the second running back in the Gators’ 2025 class, joining fellow four-star Waltez Clark. Louis and Clark are familiar with each other, having been close in proximity throughout high school and attending the same elite camps. The two will compete for playing time, although Clark seems committed to Florida for the time being.
Florida Gators fans were quick to react to Louis’ flip, voicing plenty of criticism toward Florida State. The Seminoles’ 2025 class has been hit hard by flips to both the Gators and other schools, with some athletes reopening their recruitments entirely.
