Derby’s Lewis Travis catches Ipswich Town’s Jens Cajuste with his boot in yesterday’s draw
Derby County midfielder Lewis Travis has shared a message with fans after his controversial challenge on Ipswich Town star Jens Cajuste.
Travis, who was part of the Town side which won promotion to the Premier League back in 2023/24, clashed with Cajuste in the second half of yesterday’s 2-2 draw.
Another angle of the challenge
As Cajuste went to ground following a separate challenge from another Ram, Lewis lunged in and appeared to strike the Swedish star in his chest with his studs as he kicked out.
Cajuste was left in pain on the floor, while Travis was booked by referee Lewis Doughty – but replays suggested it may have merited a red card.

Town boss Kieran McKenna said after the game: “It looked stonewall from where I was. Maybe that’s an Ipswich lens but I don’t think it was an argument from where I was on the sideline.”
