Crystal Palace Eyeing Late Loan Move for Chelsea ‘Monster’ to Replace Guehi

Crystal Palace are eyeing a late loan deal to sign Chelsea star Axel Disasi as they prepare to sell Marc Guehi to Liverpool, according to Alan Nixon.

The Eagles are in the market to bolster their central defensive options this summer and have been linked with a host of names across the transfer window, but so far no defenders have come in.

A deal has been agreed, however, for young French prodigy Jaydee Canvot to join to strengthen the position, and now Oliver Glasner is taking a look at doing a deal for France international Disasi on a season-long loan deal.

Disasi, who has been described as a ‘monster’, has been kicked all the way down the centre-back pecking order at Stamford Bridge since the arrival of Enzo Maresca, and spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.

After the Villans failed to reach the Champions League, they opted against making the deal permanent, and since then the 27-year-old has been on the lookout for a new club as he knows he has no future with the Club World Cup champions.

Now Palace are eyeing a stunning late loan swoop to bring in the former Monaco man, with the expectation being that captain Guehi will complete a move to Liverpool before Monday’s 7pm deadline.

Chelsea are open to a permanent sale for Disasi this summer as they look to get him off their books, however, Palace would prefer a short-term option instead. There is competition for his signature too, with Sunderland, Bournemouth and Aston Villa all linked with late moves to keep him in the Premier League.

So far Palace have been able to add Walter Benitez and Borna Sosa to their squad in cheap deals, while they also splashed the cash to sign Spaniard Yeremy Pino in a deal from Villarreal to replace Eberechi Eze, who joined Arsenal in a club-record £67.5m sale earlier this month.

With Guehi also now expected to depart, Palace are prioritising adding an experienced central defender to the squad and Disasi is among the top targets.
