Sergio Conceicao is in dire need of three points tomorrow, following three consecutive defeats for AC Milan, but the situation hasn’t been made easier by his entourage. According to a report, complaints have purposely been leaked to the media.
Milan’s season has been a circus so far, parting ways with Paulo Fonseca and making hefty investments in January, only to find themselves in 9th place. While Conceicao hasn’t been brilliant, there are a lot of factors in play for the decline.
As reported by Corriere della Sera, the atmosphere at Milanello is currently very tense, fueled by detailed complaints that Conceicao’s entourage leaked to the media. “A long and detailed j’accuse spread by people close to the coach,” the report states.
Lack of support from the club and Cardinale: First and foremost, the manager feels that he hasn’t received enough support from the management, even though Geoffrey Moncada was present at Milanello yesterday. He finds it disrespectful, furthermore, that he hasn’t even had a conversation with Gerry Cardinale once.
Confusing chain of command: Conceicao feels disorientated as he doesn’t understand how the Rossoneri’s chain of command works and who is responsible for managing the first team. Therefore, often finding himself alone in the role of the iron sergeant, he would like a director by his side.
State of the players: Conceicao believes he took over a team in subpar condition from a physical point of view, with legs weighed down by a poor pre-season preparation.
Late signings: Finally, the manager also wasn’t happy with the delayed arrival of most signings during the January window, leaving him with little time to get to know them before some very important games.
While Conceicao himself quickly denied that those are his thoughts, it’s safe to say that this was the last thing he and Milan needed now.
